February 7. It’s been a long day, it seems, although I suppose it has had the same number of hours as the other days.
Most of our Bible/music class this morning was spent at the keyboard. The nine former students played their last two short pieces they had learned last year. Then we sang “Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus.” They thought they had already learned the tenor and bass for that; but after they sang it through once, they realized they hadn’t. So they started learning tenor and bass today. Then we all sang it through once again. Finished the class by singing “At Calvary,” everybody’s favourite.
After our phonics lesson today, we had a little extra time to read more about Carlos. In math class, after doing some chalkboard exercises, they played a math game and then did half of lesson 11.
Most of them did not do that well on their dialogue today. It took a long time for everyone to have a turn. So I asked them, “How many of you practiced on Tuesday?” No hands. “On Wednesday?” No hands. “Yesterday?” A few hands. Most of them did not even practice until this morning. The teacher told them that they would probably do much better if they practiced a little bit every day. :-)
Then we had lunch and spelling/English class after that. That class went extra long too, as I had the nine students write their thank-you notes to Mrs. Lonnie.
MAF came around noon with Kelly and a few medical supplies.
I was happy to get to my nap a little before 3:00. After nap, I graded their spelling quizzes and then recorded all of today’s grades. Worked on next week’s lesson plans. (I had gotten part of them done before school this morning.) Made popo crisp for supper. Did dishes. Sorted laundry. Finished up lesson plans and checked over the verses for the students to start memorizing this coming week - I John 1:8-10. Then the generator was turned on, and I washed clothes and worked at the computer while loads were washing. After laundry was done, I did some printing.
“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” I Timothy 1:15
February 8. Was awakened three times between five and six o’clock this morning so I was pretty tired today. Shortly after five, I was awakened by a bad dream. Wasn’t back to sleep long when there was quite a rat-cket coming from the office. Was almost back to sleep again when somebody’s mobile phone alarm went off. Dozed a little bit after that, but it was soon time to get up.
Got the clothes hung out and then had breakfast and quiet time. Lotu started about 7:15. Mike preached from I John 4:14-18, continuing his messages on love. There was a good group here this morning for the meeting. The men are so bound to the clock right now. I hope they get over that as it seems to take away so much from the working of the Holy Spirit.
After lotu, I got some e-mails written. Tried to send them, but we could not get a connection this morning. We tried again later, but still no connection so Daddy took the computer outside where there was better reception.
Then, since it was such a nice morning, Daddy and I started out for a little walk. However, I only got as far as the edge of the airstrip and saw that I could not get across the ditch. When the people worked on the airstrip, they dug the ditch deeper and wider. They also planted a row of flowers on the other side. So we came back to the yard and walked around the yard for a while.
This morning, I also got the students Bible lessons and spelling lessons collated; and this afternoon, I put them into their folders. Got the income report up to date before dinner.
Warmed up dinner early so I could get to nap early. Just before dinner, I went out and got the sheet in off the line so I could get the bed made up before nap. And after dinner, Daddy went out and got the rest of the clothes in.
This afternoon, I finished adding names to the church member book and got a page ready to print with the new membership list for GIBC. After that, I worked on the next school Bible lesson in the study of John’s gospel.
After supper, I cleaned the chalkboard, did dishes, and cleaned the bathroom.
“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” I Timothy 1:17
