October 13. 52º this morning, but very warm this afternoon. Cooling down a lot already this evening before 7:00.
A busy day in the sale room for the girls. We certainly are thankful to have them helping because it was a busy day for us in here sorting through things too. ALMOST done now going through EVERYTHING in our bedroom. What a job!
SIL finally did come today - mid-afternoon; and John and Margaret were able to get to town. Daddy also finally got in touch with the flight coordinator at SIL, and they said they can take us out to SIL on the 26th, the day we had requested. However, there are no flights to get us to Goroka until the 30th at this point. That won’t give us much time in Goroka to get things done.
“5Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein. 6I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.” Isaiah 42:5-7
October 14. Very strong cool winds today, although the temperature was warm. MAF came today to get coffee and a sick person, but they couldn’t land because the winds were too strong. Consequently, the coffee and the sick person are still here.
This morning, Amos finished giving the applications for Acts chapter 20. It has been a good chapter for the season, with teaching both for the missionary and the elders of the church. It is also the chapter I am on in my evening Bible reading.
After lotu, Daddy announced to the church that Friday will be the last day of sales. So most everyone stayed after the meeting to buy things. There was hardly anything left out there to buy so Daddy and I rushed around finding everything we could that needed to go. People bought things up as fast as we took them out there. There was hardly anything left by mid-morning, and we didn’t really have anything more to take out there.
I was thankful to have finished today everything I need to do in our bedroom. Late afternoon, I came back to the office and hopefully we can finish up in here by tomorrow afternoon. Or even tomorrow morning. We are hurrying as fast as we can because we may have to leave here a week from today. SIL can get us to Aiyura on the day we scheduled, but they can’t get us to Goroka until a couple days later than we wanted, and that only on a charter. MAF can’t get us that week because they have a conference all week at Aiyura, but they can get us next Wednesday to Aiyura, and Jason will see about getting us from there to Goroka a couple days later (Friday). So we have a lot to do in a week’s time. It can only be done with the Lord’s help and strength.
“Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.” Isaiah 42:10
