March 22. It was refreshing to get out before breakfast this morning and hang the clothes. After breakfast and quiet time, there was lotu. A lot of people are still down at the river so there weren’t very many here for lotu. Neither Mike nor Tomas was here so Matthew taught a bit more on a subject he had started on some time ago, but never finished - “Olgeta Samting I Kamap Nupela” (All Things Are Become New). Before, he had talked about the mind, the ears, the eyes, and the mouth. Today he talked about new things that we do with our hands.
After lotu, I got journal notes ready for Christy and Connie and got an e-mail ready to send to them. I worked in the other room (office), however, so I could use the inverter. When I tried to send the e-mails, they wouldn’t send from in there. Then I spent some time getting the first quarter income report up to date. About 10:30, I shut down the computer and we went for a walk. What a beautiful morning the Lord gave us! Skies so clear and blue! Low humidity. And I was excited to find a new trail over to the airstrip through one of the places where the men had cut down all the brush beside the airstrip. For some time, I hadn’t been able to get to the airstrip on our regular trail because someone had dug a deep, wide ditch between our trail and the airstrip.
When we came back from our little walk, I got busy in the kitchen. Made lemon squares and then fixed spaghetti for our dinner. Got to nap early, and didn’t have to think about getting up at any specified time to do anything.
First thing I did after nap was wash my hair. Then I finished updating the income report and wrote a couple more e-mails. Remembered that I hadn’t finished lesson plans so worked on those until supper time. Finished the lesson plans after supper. Then I did some printing before moving the computer back into the guest room where I was able to send and receive e-mails with no problem. Also worked on revising the first year Bible school lessons.
A few people are here this evening for discipleship class. Matthew is using the loud speaker because it is raining - hard! This afternoon, the skies had turned gray, and there was some thunder and lightning and a little rain. This evening, the lightning has been very close, and Daddy and I even heard it crackle somewhere close by. It hasn’t rained this hard in quite a while.
“1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12:1-3
March 23. Back to cool, cloudy weather today. No sunshine.
Didn’t make as many pancakes today as we won’t be running the freezer much this week so leftovers won’t keep. So I was out of the kitchen a little sooner than usual.
After breakfast and quiet time, I folded the clothes and then worked on the discipleship booklet until lotu time.
Only a few of the Marivo people here today. Many of them are still down at the river. We surely would like to see them come up on weekends and be in the meetings along with the other folks. Matthew preached this morning on the Lord’s supper, especially for the benefit of new believers so they will be ready the first Sunday in April when we partake together.
This afternoon, I worked until supper time on the next soul-winning lesson.
This evening, Daddy is teaching soul-winning class.
“For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.” Hebrews 12:10
