April 4. It has been another hot, sweaty day. It is raining hard this evening, however, and cooling down quickly. We could see the dark clouds forming in the northeast, and we usually get a good soaker from that direction.
I got up earlier than I had planned this morning because I was getting uncomfortable in bed, and also because my mind was a bit troubled so I needed to spend time with the Lord. Consequently, I was tired after breakfast, and took a little nap early in the morning.
Matthew taught lotu this morning, continuing on the topic of Knowing the Will of God, teaching from Proverbs 3:5,6. In prayer time, Dallas shared an opportunity he had yesterday evening with three young men who live near him - Paul, Jordan, and somebody else. Pol (Paul) had asked Dallas to come see him, but didn’t tell him why. Dallas didn’t have time to go until after Bible school last night; and when he got to Paul’s house, the other two were with him. They just made small talk for a while, and then Dallas asked them why they wanted him to come. They said they were troubled about some things and realized they have a big need in their lives. They see that our pastor and church is good, and they wanted Dallas to teach them. Dallas hadn’t gone prepared, but he did have his Bible with him and read a verse to them and also prayed for them. We hope that he will go back and perhaps teach them the chronological lessons he is getting in Bible school.
After my nap, I got the rest of the students’ workbooks put away in the school cupboards and finished some of the cleaning up that didn’t get done yesterday. When Daddy turned the generator on, I worked for a while on the next outline for Bible school. At 10:00, we called Christy and Connie. Praise the Lord, we were able to get through. However, there was a lot of interference coming through, and we could not hear. Daddy hung up and tried again, but the same interference was still there. So we waited about a half hour and then tried again. Much better! We enjoyed a good little chat with them.
Praise the Lord for Phinehas and some of the other young men working on the water pipes today and getting the water working again. We are thankful that we kept getting a little bit of water here in the house, but there was no water anywhere else for several days.
After that, we went for a walk. It was good to get out even though the air was quite stuffy. The little breeze was welcome.
Worked some more on the Bible school outline after we came back. Then warmed up the greens and fish patties for dinner.
Was thankful for a good nap, after which I washed my hair. Planned to clean the bathroom too, but the heat took away my strength. So I just worked on the Bible school lesson outline until supper time and got that finished. Then I cut up a cucumber and a couple little tomatoes to go on our egg salad sandwiches for supper. By the time we finished eating supper, the air had cooled off enough for me to clean the bathroom. Then I practiced keyboard until just a little while ago.
“22And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven: 23And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart….” I Kings 8:22,23
