September 27. We got up at 5:30 this morning to do the laundry as we had planned. Had breakfast in between loads and had quiet time when the wash was done. But we never did get to hang them outside. By the time lotu was over, it was misting outside. We decided we would wait a bit and see if the sun would come out. But it didn’t. The mist turned to rain. We decided we’d better hang the clothes in the house. We are glad we did, because we have had clouds and rain all day. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes of sunshine around noon and a few minutes mid-afternoon. It has been raining steadily now for a couple hours. At least the morning was warm so we did not have to use the wood stove. But the weather turned cold this afternoon, and the fire is going now. We usually have a fire Saturday evening anyway to heat water for bath, but we really need one this evening. A baptism is planned for tomorrow. Don’t know if the rain will make the water too dirty or not. We are praying for nice weather tomorrow, as well as praying for some warm, sunny days. It has been some time since we have seen some.
Tomas brought the message in lotu this morning, continuing his series on “The Will of God”, using several Scriptures today that show it is God’s will to pray always and to give thanks always.
We didn’t get to go out for a walk today because of the weather. Most of my time today was spent getting lesson plans written for this coming week, getting together all the materials that need to be photo-copied for math class, and finding some supplementary material for science class.
A rainy day is a nice day for sleeping, and we both had a welcome, uninterrupted, long nap this afternoon.
“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” Revelation 3:19
September 28. It must have rained a good part of the night, and was raining when we got up this morning. Rained off and on throughout the morning.
What a mess there was to clean up this morning! Flying ants everywhere! On the table, on the counters, on the floors, on the desks, in the sinks, in the bathtub, in the windows, everywhere! It took a while to get those cleaned up before starting breakfast. I only made pancakes for Daddy this morning and just fixed some oatmeal for myself. After breakfast and quiet time, I put some pictures in the new students’ lesson for soul-winning class and got the questions made up for the new Bible school lesson.
Then it was time for lotu, but there was nobody here. Lotu didn’t start until 11:45. People were busy getting ready for the baptism today. Matthew preached on baptism in the morning meeting. After that, Arota and Bonita gave their testimonies. Then they went down to the water to be baptized. We were thankful that the Lord had stopped the rain by noon and given us a little bit of sunshine. After the baptism, they came back for food ‘n’ fellowship time.
Daddy and I had our dinner and nap. After nap, David and Matthew came to talk. After that, I worked on the PNG history/geography book until supper time.
