October 25. Daddy preached both meetings today and finished 1 Jon 4.
The Lord encouraged my heart this morning with Mark 9:23,24, “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” My unbelief does need much help today. Thank you, Lord, that you are here to help.
October 26. Praise the Lord that He gives His beloved sleep. Since Daddy and I finished Revelation the other day, we started this morning, trying to find assertions and principles in 1 John 5, which is what Daddy will be preaching on next. From there we’ll go to the book of John, and start laying out some outlines for men (who desire to be pastors) to use in preaching.
Then we started checking Mark chapter 8. Finished the first 16 verses.
Worked on the computer most of the morning.
Later in the morning, Daddy’s eyes were drawn to the verse hanging on the office wall — Isaiah 26:3a. He came and shared that with me, and I said, we need the rest of verse 3 and also verse 4 to go with it. So he got out his Bible and read the two verses. I was thankful for that wonderful reminder of the promise of peace and the source of our strength. “3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”
After I worked a bit on the computer this afternoon after nap, Daddy and I went out for a short walk. We were expecting Devit to come around 4:00 to work on the computer, but he didn’t show up until around 5:00. After our walk, I made granola and studied the meri bung {ladies' meeting} lesson.
October 27. We didn’t know whether anyone would show up for translation time or not. But they did. Nuxawai was the first to come. Then Emos. Then others. Matyu has finished translating 1 Timoti 4 now. All but Daniel, Wan, Pastor Edru, and Jonaten were here. Ben and Nuxawai worked with Devit, Korin, and Erik on translating Matyu. While they were here working, we heard hollering. Aziana council had come to tell the people that the government was going to be putting the road through here from Marawaka to Okapa. We think it may be the road that will be coming from Moresby, but we are not sure. There is already a section of road from Menyamya to Marawaka. Matyu’s group finished checking Romans 11 last night. Daddy worked with them and I worked at the computer.
This morning Serah came to work when we had just gotten up. Her father told her “moningtaim tru” instead of “early.” But maybe he thought they meant the same. Anyway we asked her to come back a little later. So she went up to Janet’s house, and came back around 7:15. Did dishes, husked corn, and swept floors before youth bung, so she didn’t need to come back later. Epekio brought a stalk of bananas just before the youth meeting.
We divided the youth into four teams today. Devit seems to be on the ball with his team. We are thankful for that.
After youth meeting, we were busy with youth and others coming and going to take care of some things. Devit came too and worked on putting the rest of Matyu 3 in the file.
This afternoon, we installed the new printer and tried it out. It works much faster than the other one. Then I worked on visuals for ladies’ meeting.
I was thankful that Wan came this afternoon and took the piece of kapa off Connie’s skylight. Her room is so much cheerier without it. And warmer too. It has really been chilly the past couple days — cold northwest winds blowing through the house. Have a fire going this evening.
