April 12. It has been quite a cool day today. Daddy has kept the fire burning in the wood stove. Even then we had light jackets on most of the morning and part of the afternoon. The Lord also sent rain in the afternoon. Later on, it turned a little warmer and brighter, but not really any sunshine, just thinner clouds.
Not too many here for lotu this morning. A lot of people are picking coffee now that they have finished harvesting peanuts so they stay in their coffee gardens. Tomas preached a good message on assurance of salvation. Then took prayer requests.
After lotu, we talked with a few people for a while. Then we had a cup of coffee and our second breakfast. After that, I got journal notes ready for Christy and Connie, worked on first quarter income report, and then wrote a few e-mails. Put a pot of rice and soup beans on to cook for dinner, got the e-mails sent off, read the ones that came in, and finished up the income report. Browned some onions and the other piece of lamb mince to add to the rice. Had leftover pumpkin greens to go with that for dinner.
I was thankful for an early nap. This afternoon, I got the math lessons ready to print for this coming week for the three extra students. Then I went outside for a little fresh air. It was getting a little stuffy in the house. When I came back in, I made some lemon sugar cookies. Put those in the oven, and then it was time for supper.
Just finished doing the dishes about a half hour ago. A few people have come in for discipleship class.
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light….” 1 Peter 2:9
April 13. The Lord gave us a bright sunny day today. It was hot too. It is 7:00 now and people are starting to arrive for soul-winning class. And it is still very warm, and I feel very sweaty. I waited until about 6:30 to do dishes because I felt too hot to be playing in the hot water.
Matthew went over to Marivo to preach this morning [where he faced a lot of opposition]. Matthew finally had to quit preaching for today, but he [said] that he would be coming back.
Matthew did a good job preaching in lotu this morning, and it was obvious that the power of God was upon his preaching. He used a number of Scriptures to show God’s way of salvation and made it very clear that it is not by confession of sin. In the afternoon, he talked about the meaning of baptism.
We were happy to see John here for the meeting today. And through Matthew’s teaching, he heard clearly the plan of salvation.
“Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.” I Peter 2:12
