February 3. A little rain this morning before we got up, and a little during the morning. Otherwise the day has been a mixture of clouds and sunshine. It was quite warm again this afternoon, and is still pretty warm this evening.
Back to school this morning to begin another week. Mike came early this morning and wanted to know if he could join the class. He said he has finished grade four. So I let him sit in today to see how he would do before he makes a final decision.
Tania paid more on her book costs today so was able to get the rest of the workbooks she needed.
Francis came and finished cutting firewood this morning.
The students started learning II Corinthians 5:17 this morning. Then we started a new Bible lesson. In phonics class, we finished the story of Joseph as a servant in Egypt and then as a prisoner. Then did a lesson in the reading workbook. After spending time with review, they finished math lesson 8 which they started on Friday. It was a hard lesson for some of them. The last class of the morning, they reviewed the two English dialogues they have already learned and started learning a new one.
Then it was lunch time. They do enjoy having lunch together on Monday and Friday. Today they got some extra treats as we had three small popo that were ripe and needed to be eaten. Then an older lady from Marivo brought a pineapple this morning. It was very ripe so we gave them that. Note: The students do not mind. The people there love very ripe fruit! Also Daddy can’t eat it right now because of the sore on and in his nose. There were also some leftover greens which I warmed up and gave them.
After lunch, Daddy went for nap, and we had spelling class. There was a crossword puzzle in this lesson so we did that together. They don’t quite have the hang of crossword puzzles yet so it is hard for them to do them independently.
After school, Sunny and Tania worked in the kitchen, preparing potatoes, pumpkin, and onions for soup. Then they swept the floor and took out the garbage before they went home. I worked on grading papers while they were working. Then I had my nap. Hooray! I was thankful for time to rest.
Finished grading papers after nap. Recorded grades. Put the soup on to cook for supper and added herbs and seaweed.
While I was doing dishes, Taqisoru’s daughter came with a new baby girl. So when I finished, I got some baby things out to give her. Then I worked on preparations for tomorrow’s classes until it got too dark. Now the generator is on so other work can be done.
“1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.” II Thessalonians 3:1,2
February 4. No rain today. Chilly this morning, but turned out to be a nice day. We thank the Lord for the nice sunshine.
Everybody was here early this morning, and almost everybody knew their new Bible verse. Mike said he wants to keep coming to school but has to find some money to pay for his workbooks. When school was out, the students left as quickly as they could to go to the ball games in Pinata so it has been pretty quiet around here this afternoon.
I must have been tired today as I slept about an hour and a half this afternoon.
Daddy was feeling a little better today and went for a little walk over to the airstrip. He still is tired a lot and goes to bed early.
Didn’t have many dishes to wash this evening so enjoyed a little time practicing keyboard afterward.
