December 25. What a blessing to have a nice quiet day today. The weather has been beautiful. No rain. Very warm this afternoon.
Daddy put the overcoats of paint on the bathroom cupboard and the side of Connie’s closet today. I glued and painted hearts and flowers design on the side of the cupboard. Then we put it up this afternoon. Need to find the curtain that I set aside for it.
We started studying and outlining Acts 11 together this morning. Even though Lew didn’t have Bible school today, I still took time out in the prayer closet, and also studied a short lesson for ladies’ meeting tonight.
I tried out the gourmet kitchen appliance today to chop up cabbage and onions to cook for dinner. Made fish patties for dinner too. And made bread afterward.
Kelly and gang came and mowed the grass this afternoon.
Desmond Oscar chopped firewood this afternoon. Daddy and I went out for a short walk. It was so nice to get out. I met the new nurse meri, Lucy. She said they have been practicing songs to sing tonight. When we got back from our walk, Devit was waiting to work at the computer. He finished getting 2 Timoti 3 into a file and is working now on Acts 13.
December 26. At 7:30 last evening, there were five adults here for ladies’ meeting — Epekio with her two littlest ones had come first — about 7:20; then Miriam and Judy; and then Lilian, Tanya, and another young lady (I think she’s home from school). Didn’t know if others were going to come or not. Decided we would go ahead and sing a few songs and see if anyone else came. After a few songs, others started trickling in. There were no girls under teens last night that I remember, other than the ones mentioned and a couple other babies. Eventually there were about 40 ladies. Taught the last section of John 4, the story of the nobleman. There were three older ladies last night, ladies who didn’t know Pidgin, so they sat by Tema, and she interpreted for them.
It was a very warm night, and still 68º in the house when we go up this morning. Very unusual. That is the warmest we have seen it first thing in the morning. I did not even put on a sweater this morning. Daddy went to lotu since it was a nice warm morning. I was thankful for a lovely morning to hang out laundry. Was glad to get the bedspread washed today. It was in dire need. I enjoyed being able to get out in the sunshine and hang out the laundry too.
After hanging out the clothes, I cut up the rest of the pumpkin to cook for dinner, and did the dishes. Rested a while and crocheted. Thought it was almost 12:00 so started the pumpking cooking. Daddy asked me why I was starting dinner so early. It was only going on 11:00. Oops! So turned it off and worked a while at the computer, organizing all the lessons from the book of John into one file — these are the lessons I have been teaching in the ladies’ meetings. Then started dinner at the right time.
Andavu cut firewood today. His children helped him, and they filled the wood box full and overflowing.
After dinner and getting the clothes in, we had our nap. Then I cleaned the bathroom, washed the benches in the living room, and swept and washed the living room floor. Cut up part of a popo and sat down for snack. Rains came this afternoon. We figured there was rain on the way again, the weather having been so warm, and humidity gradually building up the past few days.
Tony brought more ooqdi and got more floor done this afternoon.
After snack, I played the keyboard a while. Then worked on proofreading one of Bro. Stevens’ sermons. Got supper and ate. Peeled potatoes and taro for dinner tomorrow. Did the dishes. And now I am thankful for time to relax again.
