August 5. Not quite as cold today, but cooling down quickly this evening.
In lotu this morning, Amos preached on the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19:13-20. His application was that there are those unsaved who try to duplicate God’s work as seen in the lives of God’s servants, and in this way seek to destroy the work of the Lord. However, the work of those men will be brought to naught, and God’s word will prevail.
There was quite a bit of work for me to grade after nap today, but got it all finished before supper. After supper, I practiced keyboard a while so I’ll be ready for Friday. Then I read the e-mails that Daddy got in yesterday and today.
Yonupero came today and talked with Daddy for a while. He thanked Daddy for bringing the Gospel and helping him to get saved.
“Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” Romans 7:12
August 6. Pretty much a routine day. MAF came in with school supplies and brought Margaret back in. They also brought us some eggs which Melanie had picked up for us. Our supply was running low so we figured we’d better have Melanie send some in since the plane was coming. She also sent in a treat of Arnott’s Scotch Fingers.
These are so delicious! I don't know if they are available in the US.
Made pizza for supper this evening. It tasted good to have cheese again. There hadn’t been any cheese in town for a long time, but this time Daddy was able to get cheese.
Sunny and Graham came this evening for their computer lesson. They learned the last letter (Z) and the first number (1) plus the exclamation mark this evening.
“14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16
August 7. It was foggy, chilly, and damp early this morning, but turned out to be a nice, warm day. SIL came in unexpectedly today for a medi-vac. Esther delivered a baby, but did not deliver the placenta so they took her out to the hospital.
The students finished both their reading workbook and phonics workbook early in phonics class today so we had a little time left to talk about “mercy.” I was able to give a couple examples, too, from incidents that happened in class this week in relation to their lessons. So it actually worked out better that we had had to wait for the little lesson on mercy.
I gave them quiz papers in history class today to see how well they had studied and to help them see what they need to study yet. I didn’t tell them ahead of time, though, that I wasn’t going to collect and grade the papers so they were all sitting there sweating away trying to figure out the answers. They are learning the names and locations of PNG’s 20 provinces and two districts, plus the provincial headquarters of each, and the names and locations of major landmarks in the country - longest river, largest lake, highest mountain, etc. I figured they probably didn’t have them all memorized yet, but wanted them to see what they could do and what they need to study yet. They seemed a bit stunned at first when, after they had worked on it for about 15 minutes, I told them they could open their books now and find the rest of the answers and that I wasn’t going to collect their papers today. Then when it suddenly dawned on them, their were loud sighs of relief.
I was thankful to have had time during classes to finish all of next week’s lesson plans. Since I didn’t have any more papers to grade (Sunny and Graham will finish them tomorrow evening), lesson plans to do, or meal to fix, I was able to practice keyboard, do a bit of computer work, and sort out the laundry to be washed this evening.
This evening was very busy doing laundry, doing printing, writing a music lesson, having a bath, doing dishes. After Daddy helped me with laundry, he was busy with Bible school. They have just one more lesson to go and then Bible school will be finished for this year. Someone else will have to teach the next course. He also helped me with dishes after Bible school, and I was very grateful for his help.
“1There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1,2 Praise God for life in Christ Jesus.
