August 31. A few sprinkles this morning after we got up. Most of the day was nice and sunny. We were thankful for a good day for hanging the laundry outside.
Mike finished up his series on the love of God this morning. There were quite a few prayer requests, and there were a good number here for lotu.
Shortly after lotu, Daddy started the generator, and we did the laundry. While clothes were washing, I worked on math lesson plans. Sosthenes, Graham, and Phinehas cut firewood.
After hanging out the clothes, we talked with Christy and Connie for about 40 minutes. That was the best part of the day.
After that, I practiced some songs until time to get dinner on the table. For dinner, we just had leftover veggies, and rice with the leftover chicken gravy.
I had quite a bit longer nap than intended so didn’t have much time to get other things done this afternoon. Right after nap, I sorted and washed a bunch of pumpkin greens that Mora had brought yesterday.
Elma came to get some things for the baby. She had a baby boy this past week - their sixth child. I was glad that she came so I could talk to her about her need of Christ. Didn’t have a long time to talk with her, but just enough to plant a little seed.
Was hoping to make cookies and granola, but didn’t get time for that. Daddy still has a few cookies left that the Venters brought him from the SVS bakery so he is okay yet. And we don’t need the granola before Tuesday morning, although sometimes I like to have it in the evening. I did need to make biscuits for my supper.
After supper, I got the greens cut up and on to cook. Then I started the dishes and Daddy finished them for me. I was thankful for his help as I needed to get some song sheets printed out for the youth that are going to youth camp. A little after 7:00, they were here and ready for practice. They want to learn parts of several songs in case they have an opportunity to sing specials. We got only one song practiced - “Jesus Loves Me” in English and in Pidgin. I did talk with them a while before we actually started, however.
Now it is after 9:30. I just had my snack, and now we need to have a bath.
“16Let not then your good be evil spoken of: 17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” Romans 14:16-19
September 1. It was very cool most of the day, and the fire has been going all day. The Lord sent us a pretty good rain this afternoon.
I was awake for well over an hour during the night last night and could feel a cold coming on. I have not felt very well today. Wish I had some Clear Lungs. Took a two-hour nap this afternoon.
People came fairly early for church this morning. What a surprise to see Wenera here! He has another wife now, name Julie, and three little girls. He was here for both meetings today.
Matthew covered all of 2 Corinthians chapter 2 in the first meeting. Did a great job. Phinehas and Taqita responded to the invitation. I didn’t hear the second meeting as I was sleeping, but Daddy said David covered a good part of the lesson on what to teach when going on outreach or witnessing to others. There are lots of Bible verses in that section.
This afternoon, I worked on lesson material that needs to be printed out for this week’s school lessons.
There were lots of dishes to wash this evening, and it took me quite a while to get done.
Then I practiced keyboard until about 6:45, and after that, did some printing.
Daddy has been able to start soul-winning class back up this week so he is in the other room now teaching that.
“1We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. 3For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 4For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Romans 15:1-4
