August 11. Woke up to blue sky and sunshine this morning. Later in the morning, the fog came up, and filled up the sky with clouds. We had some bits of sunshine off and on throughout the day, but the weather was still very cool. People came early for lotu this morning. Matthew wasn’t here — he was in Marivo working in his gardens there. So Amos took charge of lotu in his place. Amos has a really bad cold so had a hard time. He read some passages in the Gospels about people Jesus healed and told people they need to trust God for healing.
Right after lotu, I got busy making bread. Then I made a batch of lemon-orange coconut cookies for Daddy. Made one big cookie in a cake pan — Daddy’s birthday cookie. This afternoon, I frosted it, using the little bit of icing sugar we had left, and grating some of the chocolate chumps to sprinkle on top. (Chocolate chumps are chocolate chips that have melted together into chunks.) I measured the rest of the flour, and there is just about enough to make one loaf of bread next week plus Daddy’s pancakes tomorrow morning.
After setting the bread to rise and getting the cookies ready to go in the oven, I cleaned the meeting room. Then I got the bed made, and by then I was ready to sit down a while. So I finished up lesson plans for this coming week. About 11:00, I put the bread in the oven; and when it was done, I baked the cookies. Then we had lunch and nap. I guess I zonked out at nap time as I didn’t wake up until an hour and a half after we lay down.
When we got up, we saw the sun shining, so I hurried outside to soak up a bit of sunshine. We thought maybe we could go for a little walk. However, in less than five minutes, the sun was gone, and a cold wind came up. So I hurried back into the house, especially since I still have a cough and my throat has been sore.
Put away the bread and cookies, and frosted Daddy’s birthday cookie. Sang happy birthday to Daddy, and then he ate part of his cookie. Then I cleaned the bathroom, and afterward finished translating the verses I need for Bible class this coming week. After a while, I put rice and lentils on to cook for supper and got the rest of the corn ready to cook too.
There were lots of dishes tonight since I baked today so I am glad they are done and now I can sit and relax again.
