October 15. Very cold again this morning, but didn’t take long for the day to warm up.
Quite a busy day. Lots of people coming and going to buy things. Daddy and I kept busy cleaning in the house. I was thankful to have gotten all of the pantry/storage room cleaned out by noon. Worked more on the office this afternoon and have a little bit to go yet in the office.
Dallas and Bonita worked on sales, and Sosthenes helped too. We also gave Sosthenes a couple little jobs to do to help us in the house. Sunny came in late this afternoon to look at sale things, and I asked her to prepare the greens for us that one of the ladies had brought today.
Daddy met this evening with the pastors and deacons, seeking to encourage, teach, and exhort them before we leave. He will need to meet again another evening to finish up the things he wants to go over with them.
I printed out copies of several different tracts to give to Dallas and others for use with outreach.
“20And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, 21Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” Acts 20:20,21
October 16. 49º this morning, but warmed up quickly and was quite hot today. Not as much wind as usual.
It gets lighter earlier in the morning now which is a blessing. We were up before 5:45. Had breakfast and quiet time and got ready to do laundry. Even before I finished hanging out the clothes, I was getting quite warm and was happy to get back inside.
While I was hanging clothes, Daddy was overseeing the sales. There was quite a crowd waiting out here long before time for sales to start. Sunny and Peninnah looked after sales today, and Sosthenes looked after the door. Today was the last day. I am thankful for that.
Today was a very stressful day too, trying to work on arrangements for getting out and to coordinate everything with housing. Jason did get in today with the twin otter, and Daddy talked with him again about our need to get to Aiyura and then to Goroka. He was having a stressful day too, being the only twin otter pilot in Goroka right now, with Richard and Holgar gone for a break. However, he was more than willing to be a blessing and help work things out for us. He said that’s what he is here for is to serve people. We are very thankful for his help even when he was having a stressful day. That means the next few days we’re really going to having to give it all we’ve got to get everything done.
Had to dig the paper cutter back out of the suitcase today so I could cut the tracts I had printed last night. Also had to get out the long arm stapler and later staples to go in it. Still have a few more of the tracts to staple. Daddy helped by folding the tracts after they were stapled.
Early this evening, Esau and Jaydine came for a short visit. I had just finished the baby afghan today so had that ready to give them along with some other baby things, the king’s clothes that Esau wore in the Daniel drama and wanted to have, and the little saucepan that Jaydine had paid for. Mainly they came to have me pray for them and for the baby. The baby has already turned so they expect her to have the baby any time before the end of the month. They want me to think of a boy’s name and a girl’s name to use when the baby is born.
“27For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. 28Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. 32And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” Acts 20:27-32
