December 14. Praise the Lord for rain today!
We didn’t go out anywhere today. I wrote e-mails, acknowledged supporters, and got a couple more Sunday school lessons written.
The Lord blessed Mel and Jenny with a healthy baby boy today.
This evening, Lewis and I talked over our coming trip to Texas* and also decided to start work on final proofreading of some Scripture translation.
“For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” I Corinthians 2:16
*Mom and Dad should be flying to Texas next week for a trip to consider a ministry opportunity. Please keep this in prayer. Thanks!
December 15. Was very tired and went to bed early last night. Then I was up early this morning -- 5:30. I had quiet time and got the rest of the updates sent off. Also spent more time on Sunday school lessons.
The Lord gave us a beautiful sunny day today after the rain yesterday. Daddy held the PNG flag for me up against the clear blue sky so I could get a picture for the flag tract. Connie washed the floor for us today and Daddy shook out the rugs. It was after 5:00 when Christy came from work. She did more work on the computer, setting up things and so forth.
“5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” I Corinthians 3:5,6
December 16. Slept in a little later this morning because I knew we wouldn’t get a nap today. The Lord gave us a lovely day again today, just a bit cooler than the past few days.
After breakfast and quiet time, I worked a little bit on Sunday school lessons. Around 9:30, we left here to go to Hickory for eye exams at Sears; but first we took a little detour down Earl Road and stopped at Kmart to get some Pampers and some Huggies wipes for Melvin and Jenny’s baby.
It was a somewhat long trip to Hickory, for me anyway. Am just not used to going long distances anymore, even though it was a short long distance. Our first stop in Hickory was at Golden Corral for lunch. Then we went on to Sears. Had an hour or so to kill so looked through some of the clothes, walked around the mall, went downstairs and looked at chairs, couches, and beds, and just hung around until the workers at Sears Optical came back to work from lunch at 2:00. That was when our appointments were. The optometrist was very nice and liked to chat. Asked a lot of questions about our work in PNG. It was a good opportunity to share the most important message that we had for the PNG people, that they can have salvation through faith in Christ. She seemed to agree with what we were saying. All the workers at the optical place were nice. I was thankful for the lady who helped me pick out glasses. I am not very good at picking them out myself. It was well after 3:00 before we were done there so we headed right home, arriving home around 4:45.
“8Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 9For we are labourers together with God….” I Corinthians 3:8,9a
