Sorry, I didn't have any pictures of Mom and Dad with their friends or of the market, so I just picked a picture. :-)
November 27 and 28. Wednesday evening, the 27th, we went out to the Venter’s for supper. After we got back, I didn’t even think about writing in my journal so yesterday’s events are a little foggy in my mind. I know that we went out shopping early in the morning and didn’t get back to the house until after noon. The first place we went was back to Hamamas to try to find me some more blouses. I was thankful to find two more blouses and also a warm long-sleeved shirt for the cool, but not cold, mornings.
Went looking for little gifts to take to the Venter children in the evening. At the end of the morning, we finally found some little cups with animals on them and animal-shaped handles. Got one for each of the three children. Also tried to find crepe paper to make flower decorations for the special meetings. The crepe paper I saw at Singaut the other day was gone. They did have some bright colors of lace there, though, for 40t/yard so got five yards of each color and will try to make lace flowers. We hunted for boxes for packing too, and a chair for myself. I was thankful that my legs were feeling quite a bit better yesterday as we did a lot of walking around.
I did not go out in the afternoon, but Daddy found a chair at Hardware House that he said was comfortable. However, they didn’t have a number or price on it yet.
In the afternoon, I wrote e-mails and searched through Amazon.com to find books on PNG history. Some time before 6:00, Brad called and said he was on his way over so we hurried to get ourselves out the door and go meet him out front.
We enjoyed a good evening with Brad and family. Enjoyed chicken-veggie soup and herbed bread for supper. It rained most of the evening. We were trying to wait for the rain to slow down before we had Brad bring us home, but it never slowed down so we just came home. The world was very wet.
This morning, Thursday, we went out early to market. What a mess! The whole market place was just black mud after the rain. Very slippery! I had to be really careful so I wouldn’t fall. We got some tomatoes, lemons, carrots, broccoli, and ginger root. Went from there to Hardware House. I tried out the chair Daddy had found there yesterday. Daddy ordered the roofing iron which was taken over to MAF later. Then we waited while a couple of the workers tried to find a number and price for the chair. They finally found one - only K93.95. So we paid for that and loaded the chair into the car. After a stop at Goroka Foodmart for flour, we came back to the house. I didn’t know of anything else I needed to go out for so I stayed here. I was glad I did as Daddy was out the rest of the morning trying to take care of business and also help Kelly and Philemon take care of business.
After Tomas, Rebeka, and Philemon arrived back in Goroka from Compri, Hardware House “delivered” the roofing iron to MAF – by forklift. They couldn’t take the forklift inside the fence so they parked across the street, and Tomas and Kelly carried the roofing iron from there over to the hangar.
Philemon had gone to the eye doctor to try to get something for his eyes. They were quite irritated from all the studying he has been doing.
Daddy came in a little before noon, but did not stay. There was too much to do. He just dropped some things off and went back out. He told me to go ahead and have lunch. I’m glad I did because he never came home for lunch. He went and had a chicken fillet sandwich at Papindo.
I worked at the computer for a while after my lunch; but when he didn’t come for a long time, I went ahead and had my nap. It was about 2:45 when I woke up from nap and heard him coming in. Philemon and Kelly were with him to help take more cargo over to the hangar. So he was soon back out again.
Today I worked on song sheets for choir and more on the oral Englsih lessons - getting notes into the teacher lessons and pictures into the students lessons. Also worked on packing, getting ready to go home, Lord willing, in the morning.
For supper we had leftover veggies, and pizza that Daddy had picked up at SVS today.
“4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6And hath raised us up together, and madeus sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:4-7
