July 1. Raining again this evening. There was a fair amount of sunshine this morning, but it was cloudy again by mid-afternoon.
Had leftover pancakes for breakfast. Then Daddy went to market and got carrots, broccoli, tomatoes, and a few bananas. After that, we went up to Goroka Food Mart, which used to be New Century. Got eggs and a trash basket and a couple other little things. Then I sat in the car while Daddy went to one of the other West stores and got a “case” of salt (trade item). Then he took me back to the flat, and he went out to do some other shopping. I spent most of the day working at the computer. Got the June progress report done. I’m thankful to have that done a bit earlier this month. Finished notes on Daniel chapter 2 and worked on a few verses in the Gospel of John studies for school.
We had just sat down and started to eat dinner (about 12:30) when Randy called for Daddy to pick him up at the hangar. So Daddy went out, and I finished my lunch. When Daddy came back, I heated up his soup in the microwave, and poured a bowl of soup for Randy. Pot luck soup was on the menu today for dinner.
This afternoon, Randy helped Daddy take our boxes to the hangar for our flight Wednesday morning. Then Daddy went around with him to some of the other stores.
Later this afternoon, Daddy walked up to Papindo West, and got caught there in the rain. He was gone for about an hour. I was already eating my supper when he got back at 5:30. Then he had to go find Randy because Randy had come by a few minutes before that to talk to him. So it was after 6:00 before Daddy got to have his supper.
“19And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry. 20And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord….” Acts 21:19,20
July 2. Rained or drizzled a good part of the night. It was still drizzling when we got up this morning. Daddy went around shopping with Randy this morning, and then we all went out to lunch at the new Papindo eating area. Daddy had a hamburger and a big cup of cappuccino, and I ordered a couple pieces of pizza. I asked ahead of time if the pizza was hot because I knew that the pizza at SVS was always cold. Oh, yes it was hot, they assured me. Nevertheless when she brought me my plate, the first thing I did was check to see if the pizza was hot before the waitress could get away. Cold pizza! “This pizza is cold,” I said. “Can you heat it up?” So she took the pizza to the back, and in a few minutes, she was back with hot pizza. I thanked her and enjoyed the pizza.
Afterward we stopped at the post office, and then came back to the house. Daddy went over to the office and paid our bill. After nap, Daddy went out to Goroka West and got a battery for my watch.
Finished up the lesson on Jon 1:10-13 today, and revised Jon 1:14-18. Wrote several e-mails. Packed up as much as I could so we’ll be ready for our flight in the morning.
NTM went into Owena today with our fuel and generator. They were supposed to bring out coffee and an empty diesel drum, but they changed their schedule and went in early. The coffee wasn’t ready so they came back empty.
Have really been enjoying my morning Bible reading and meditations in Psalms these days. Read Psalms 96 and 97 this morning. “1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. 2Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. 3Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 4For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. 5For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. 6Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 8Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. 9O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. 10Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. 11Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. 12Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice 13Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.” Psalm 96
