July 24. Another day like yesterday. At first we thought it was going to warm up. The sun came out for a few minutes, and about mid-morning, I opened a window in the classroom. But then the clouds came back and a cold wind started to blow from the north so I had to put my long-sleeved shirt back on.
Today we reviewed the last Bible lesson and the students took the test. We had a little bit of time to start on the project, and will finish it first thing tomorrow. Had a bit longer English class today so we could finish up the Reading Workbook and the Worksheets. Finished up the math lessons on the 14,7,7 triplet. So when they come back to school, we will start on the 15 family.
This afternoon, I graded today’s lessons and got the report cards ready to give to the students tomorrow. Just as I was about to start fixing supper, Sipora and Jocelyn came by. Sipora said she has a cold too so hasn’t gone out so was eager to get out today. It was good to see them, and we chatted about a half hour before I told them I needed to fix supper.
After supper, Daddy helped me move the table to the corner of the classroom and move the pulpit back to its place on the platform so the room will be ready for lotu in the morning. After dishes, I got refreshments ready for tomorrow and made sure all the game stuff was ready.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8
July 25. Same kind of weather again today. Wood stove has been going all day. Praise the Lord for the wood stove!
People came at a good time for lotu this morning, and a good number were here today. Some of the younger children were here as they didn’t have school. We understand they are going to go back to school tomorrow.
Somehow Tomas got the impression that he was supposed to preach today and he had prepared something. So Daddy let him go ahead and preach. His message was “God Made Us and We Belong to Him.” It was short, but he did a good job.
We didn’t have any regular classes of school today. The students finished their project first, the one they started yesterday. Then we played a few games. First they had to take Moses to the top of Mount Sinai by answering Bible questions. Then we played an English game where they had to find words that answered a question I asked or rhymed with a certain word or was opposite, whatever the case might be. After those two games, Bethuel wanted to go to the clinic to get his toe taken care of. He has a boil on his toe. I’m glad we have a week and a half break so, hopefully, his toe can be healed by the time school starts again. The rest of the students had refreshments and then we played some more games — ring stack for one, and fit the shapes into the snail. Then a math game — I called an addition or subtraction problem and they had to “write” the problem with number cards and cards with the plus, minus, and equal signs. Whoever “wrote” out the whole problem first with the correct answer got a point for their team. Bonita has really gotten to be a whiz at math. The last game was to find numbers, shapes, letters, and color words on some cardboard blocks that I have. There are two sets of blocks so we had two teams. When I called a number, shape, letter, or color word, the team to find it first and set it upright got a point.
By then it was noon. I gave them their report cards, and they all went home. Then we had our dinner and nap. This afternoon, I cleaned everything out of the guest room (except the bed, of course) to get ready for scrubbing the walls in there. I got tired out quite quickly — probably because I am still fighting this chest cold after 3 1/2 weeks.
After I got too tired to clean anymore, I put into the computer the photos that I had taken this morning in school. That took a while. I forgot to put the dish water on the hot part of the wood stove while we were eating supper. So while it was heating up, I worked on finding a picture for the introductory page for the next section in the science book. Then I did the dishes before coming back to the computer. Daddy is in Bible school tonight with the men.
“20Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20,21
