Mark 11:22-26 was the portion God gave me today. “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” I was so thankful for time to spend alone with the Lord this morning when Daddy went off to Bible school.
Enos came and cut firewood again.
It was a blessing to be able to have some time for Bible study with Serah this morning. After she left, I worked on some of Daddy’s Bible school lessons in the computer.
Daddy said that Pastor Edru told him that Ivana’s husband got saved this past Sunday. We thought, from what Wan had said, that he was already saved. But Edru said that he was a wicked man, and had said that he wasn’t going to get saved; he was just going to live the way he wanted to, and then go to hell. However, on Sunday, he showed up at church, but said he wasn’t going to come inside. Stayed outside and listened. When the meeting was over, and Pastor Edru gave the invitation, there weren’t any hands raised. He was about to close in prayer, when he noticed a hand outside the window. It was Ivana’s husband. Pastor Edru closed the meeting and went out and dealt with him. He said he hadn’t planned to get saved, but God’s Word worked in his heart and convicted him.
It was a joy to hear that the Word of God had changed his direction. Praise God!
After lunch, I got the bread made up. Then we had nap. And this afternoon, Daddy and I were able to work on checking Mark. Finished chapter 8. Praise God for His help. Then I worked on making corrections in Rómu and Aposóri before getting supper. In a little while, ladies should start arriving for ladies’ meeting.
October 31. Just a small group of ladies’ last night — probably no more than 40. But I am thankful for those who came. Tema was pretty sick so did not come. I asked Yonupero’s wife if she would take the prayer time in Tema’s place, and she agreed to do that. Her name is Marerúqa. And Sani volunteered at the last minute to read tokples Jon so that was a blessing. She did quite well for no practice ahead of time. Everyone who helped did a good job. Some of the ladies seemed to be sleepy. I was able to hold Kristina’s baby (Daniela, I think, is her name) for a few minutes before the meeting. She is a sweetie. Then I got to hold our Judy a little bit after the meeting.
After my own prayer time, I worked on the lesson from John for the next ladies’ meeting so I could get that ready to print. The lesson will be on the healing of the nobleman’s son. It will go well with the lesson on faith that precedes it, as it is a good example of faith in practice.
Serah had a pretty busy morning, and she didn’t seem to be feeling that well. Her cold was a bit worse today. Besides laundry, there were lots of dishes, food to prepare, and a very dirty floor to clean (since it rained yesterday before the ladies came) and benches to wash. Then when she was about done, Julian came with some greens so I had Serah fix those too.
Penina came this morning also and brought a bunch of flowers to plant.
Also gave her some flower seeds to plant in between the other flowers. When she was done with planting, she weeded around the walkway and raked up around there. That was nice. I hadn’t even asked her to do that. She got finished about the same time Serah did, and they both got paid.
Daddy and I studied a few more verses in 1 John 5, and are nearly done with that chapter. (He will preach on the first five verses tomorrow.) Next Daddy will help me in studying John 5, as I’ll be starting teaching on that next in ladies’ meetings.
The weather clouded over and cooled off a bit this afternoon. Took a fairly long nap today. I was thankful that the heat of the morning had passed away by the time I got up, as it can be quite hot in the bathroom when the sun is shining strong, and the bathroom needed to be cleaned. Got the bathroom cleaned, and my hair washed. Relaxed a few minutes, and then cooked up the other half of the popo and made cookies and supper. Then did dishes before sitting down to relax.
“And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
