October 18. The Lord gave us intermittent sunshine this morning. Clouds came and went, but the sunshine was sufficient to warm up the house and put some more charge into the solar battery. He did send us a little rain late this afternoon.
I had each of the students play their two pieces in music class this morning and count as they played. I told them if they played and counted well, they could play again and we would sing the little songs. Everyone did really well, and we all had fun singing.
I guess I must have been pretty tired this afternoon because I slept over an hour and a half. I probably would have slept longer if Daddy hadn’t come in. I did need to get up and wash my hair, finish today’s grading and recording, sort out the laundry to be washed this evening, sort and wash greens. By then it was time to get supper.
Did the dishes right away after supper. Got the greens cut up, and some onions too, and put them on to cook. Daddy turned on the generator around 6:00 and I started the wash. Just finished a little while ago hanging up the shirts, blouses, dresses, and a few other things in the house. The rest is in the basket ready to be hung outside in the morning.
Daddy is teaching Bible school this evening, continuing with teaching on the family. A number of the young people have been coming Thursday and Friday evenings as Daddy has been teaching on “Ready for Marriage.”
“4….in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, 5In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; 6By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, 7By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 8By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; 9As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; 10As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.” II Corinthians 6:4b-10
October 19. It is going on 7:00 p.m. It has been a busy day, and I am happy to sit down now. Monika and two of her children were just here with bananas, and Kristina and some of her children were here with avocadoes. Wan also came to get a few things. I had just finished doing dishes. While I was waiting for the dishwater to heat, I wiped off the chalkboard, covered the books, and locked the school cupboard. We didn’t remember to put the water on to heat until I started cleaning up the kitchen and getting dishes ready to wash. Now Daddy is starting the fire to heat water for our baths.
The Lord gave us a lovely sunshiney day today with lots of blue sky. It got very warm this afternoon, however. After nap, I felt really hot all afternoon until the sun went down.
Heard the lotu bell ring at 5:40 this morning. Never heard it that early before. I did not get up, however, until about 6:00 when Daddy came in to tell me to get up. After I got dressed and took my first morning supplement, Daddy took the basket of clothes outside for me, and I hung them up. Then I came in and had my breakfast.
Tomas’s message this morning was on “God Helping Those Who Cannot Help Themselves.” He reviewed the Old Testament stories of God’s provision for saving Adam and Eve, Isaac, and Jonah. Then he went to the New Testament and read Romans 5:6 and 8, and John 3:16 and showed how God has provided salvation for us sinners also. He did a good job.
Lawrence came and sat on my lap for quite a while - from the middle of taking prayer requests through the prayer time. His mother was not here today.
After lotu, the school choir practiced. Tomas took a video with his phone. We tried to transfer it to the computer, but it would not work. I would really like to have a video of them singing.
Then several folks cleaned the meeting room, Bonita redid her math worksheet from yesterday, and Sosthenes finished cleaning around the yard. He had cleaned out the ditches yesterday, but there was lots of rubbish sitting around the yard so we asked him to clean that up too. After everyone had gone, we went for a little walk. The rest of the morning (about an hour), I worked on lesson plans for next week. Then we had lunch and nap.
Finished up lesson plans this afternoon. Washed, cut up, and cooked the rest of the carrots. Husked the corn that Erovi had brought the other day and cooked it. Made a chicken pot pie for supper with the leftover chicken gravy and rice, after adding some corn and carrots. Am tired this evening.
“14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” II Corinthians 6:14-18
