April 16. The Lord gave us a pretty nice morning again. Shortly after noon, the skies became dark and it looked like it was going to storm. But we only had a few sprinkles of rain, and it didn’t get very cold.
The students are struggling quite a bit with fractions. And so many new concepts are taught in just a few lessons which makes it even harder. It makes it harder for me to teach as well so as to get those concepts firmly established and understood in their minds. They really seemed to enjoy their science lesson today, however. It is just mind boggling to think how large and hot the sun is and how far away it is from the earth, and yet it is smaller than most of the stars and closer to the earth. It is hard to imagine how large and far away the stars could be. What a reminder of the great Creator, and how little we human beings are on this small planet! And yet God thinks on us and cares for us. The end of the lesson brought out how there is no need of the sun or moon in heaven because the glory of God and the Lamb are the light of it. It was amazing to them to realize that God’s glory is so bright, it shines like the sun.
There weren’t quite as many people at the door this afternoon. Mandah came with her baby for me to see and hold. She had come by the other day to buy cooking oil, but she didn’t have the baby. I asked her where the baby was so today she brought the precious little girl for me to hold.
“37All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:37-40
April 17. In the wee hours of the morning, I saw stars in the sky, and when I got up the skies were pretty blue. There was a big bank of fog coming up out of the valley, however, so I got the fire going before starting my breakfast. As the morning went on, the fog just seemed to melt away as it rose so I let the fire die out.
Mixed up a little pancake dough before Daddy called and made a few pancakes after we talked. School seemed long today. When the students were busy doing their lessons, I worked on next week’s lesson plans. The students did a lot of work today, but I did not try to grade any except for Sunny’s and Graham’s. They two said they will come do the rest tomorrow evening. I will be most grateful for their help. There will probably be dishes to wash too.
After nap, I worked again on lesson plans and then again this evening. I did do dishes right after supper and also took a bath a little bit later. It was going on 8:30 before I finished the lesson plans, but I am thankful to have that done.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” John 6:47
