April 7. Unusual weather pattern today. Very warm in the morning. There was some rain before sunup, and it was foggy the first part of the morning. Then the sun came out, and it got very warm. Opened all the windows and the door in school. Early afternoon, however, the clouds and wind came up, and the temperature made a big drop. Later in the afternoon, the sun was back out and it was warm again, but very humid. It is cool this evening so doors and windows are shut, but it is not cold in the house yet.
The students started learning verse three of Psalm chapter 1 today. Some of the words are a lot harder than those in verses one and two so we spent quite a bit of time going over the verse. Only had about 15 or 20 minutes to study the lesson, but we should have a little more time tomorrow.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:17
April 8. No rain today. Hot and cool off and on like yesterday.
The story in social studies class today was about life in a communist country in Europe. Even though these people here don’t have much materially, they do have much to be thankful for. I encouraged them to thank God for their freedoms to worship openly and freely, to be able to choose their education and work, and not to have to live in fear of authorities or other people who despise Christians. Even though the believers here do face some persecution and mocking, they do not have their freedoms taken away or face punishment for living for Christ.
This afternoon, I was busy preparing veggies for our meals. Amon brought greens this morning so I got those sorted, washed, and cut up with some onions. Then I fixed another pot with uxai, onions, broccoli and carrots. When everything was prepared, I got busy grading today’s math lessons. About 4:30, I lit the oven and put the rest of the pizza in to warm up. Then started the veggies cooking. While supper was cooking, I glued pasteovers into the math books.
“7Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” James 5:7,8
