March 30. A mixture of weather types today - some sunshine, some clouds, a few drops of rain, and cool strong winds this afternoon. It is quite chilly this evening.
After breakfast and quiet time this morning, my time was spent working on this week’s Bible lesson for school. Was thankful to get that finished up.
Matthew preached both meetings today, covering II Corinthians 8:6-9 in the morning and 10-15 in the afternoon. He made some good applications from verse 7. He also fit in some teaching on music.
This afternoon, I went through the Bible lesson again and marked places for blanks for the students’ lesson. Then I got the students’ lesson set up in its file.
Made fish patties for supper. Remembered that I hadn’t finished this week’s lesson plans yet so worked on those while dish water was heating.
As soon as the power was on this evening, I printed out teacher’s copy of the Bible lesson. Proofread it and made corrections. Then printed out the students’ copies, collated them, and punched holes. I still need to get those put into their folders as soon as soul-winning class is done.
“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:4
March 31. 7:30 p.m. All is very quiet. Even the rat that ran by out of the office into the guest room was very quiet. No pitter patter of its feet on the linoleum. If I hadn’t looked up at that time and been ready to get up, I probably never would have seen it. Ugh! A rat!
The day started about 5:45 a.m. I didn’t really plan to get up that early but was glad I did. After breakfast and quiet time, I had to back up files so I would have them to use in this Acer computer while Daddy is gone. It took all the way up until school time to get them backed up.
The plane came toward the end of math class to take Daddy to town. Four of the students left their work to carry his cargo up to the airstrip. I gave them a little extra time to finish when they got back. I was thankful they had gotten an early start on the lesson.
When we started our spelling lesson this afternoon, I happened to glance at Peninnah’s book and noticed she only had the first half of the lesson. Oops! I had forgotten to print out more spelling lessons to add to the folders of the three students who don’t have textbooks. So while they were filling in the answers on the first page, I quickly came and printed out another page for them.
This afternoon, a number of people came to the door so that plus grading papers took up a good part of the afternoon. Also got things ready for tomorrow’s lessons before supper. Needed to use up the rest of the egg salad so made a white sauce and turned the egg salad into creamed eggs which I poured over my biscuits. Sprinkled in a little curry powder to give it a nice flavor.
After supper, I wrote more lesson plans for this week while the dish water was heating. Got the dishes done and worked a bit more on lesson plans while bath water was heating. Enjoyed a refreshing small bath, and now there is lots of computer work to be done.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5
April 1. Mostly sunny this morning, but wind, clouds, and some rain this afternoon.
Didn’t have a lot of grading to do today, but needed to get other things done so I would be ready to print some things this evening. I don’t know how many people came to the door, however, so that kept pushing the finish time farther ahead. So I kept working until the lessons were done and ready to print. It was going on 6:00 before I finally got to the kitchen to make biscuits. Even while I was getting my supper, there were several knocks at the door. At least I didn't have to do dishes this evening.
As soon as I was done eating and had the kitchen cleaned up, I got busy doing the printing. Then I had to collate and punch the three sets of math lessons to put in the new students’ folders before I could just relax. It is already 9:00.
