July 18. The weather was quite dreary this morning. We didn’t know if it would be a good day for drying clothes or not, but we were up early and hung them out before breakfast.
There was hardly anyone here for lotu this morning. Matthew continued teaching on the story of Abraham’s servant and his work of finding a wife for Isaac. The point he concentrated on today was prayer.
After lotu, I did a little more cleaning and sorting. Then I got journal notes ready for Christy and Connie. Afterward, I cleaned the bathroom. Got the next student copy of the Bible school lesson ready for printing before we had lunch.
Matthew came a little later in the morning to get help from Lewis with some verses.
We were gratefully surprised that most of the clothes were dry by the time lunch was over. We hadn’t had any sun or much wind during the morning.
After nap, I washed my hair, hung up the few clothes that hadn’t gotten dry outside, wrote a short e-mail to C&C to go along with the journal notes, and got graduation diplomas and award certificates made up. Then I made a tuna-potato pie for supper and cooked some pumpkin that Daddy had cut up for me.
Only Sunny is here working this evening since Graham has gone away.
“LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.” Psalm 39:4
July 19. After breakfast and prayer time this morning, there was a little time to work on ladies’ meeting notes until time for lotu.
Matthew preached this morning on Ephesians 2:12-17. David preached in the afternoon, comparing the ark to salvation. He did well.
After lotu, I worked more on ladies’ meeting notes. And after supper, I looked over lessons for school tomorrow, wrote some things on the chalkboard, and practiced keyboard.
“Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” Psalm 40:5
July 20. Was in the mid 50’s this morning, but turned out to be a nice day and a very pretty afternoon. It is still warm this evening, but the skies are clear so it may get quite chilly again. The first quarter moon and the two planets are already shining brightly in the western sky. It isn’t quite dark enough to see the stars yet.
Now it is about 3 1/2 hours later - going on 10:30. The stars are brightly shining, and it is quite a bit cooler.
All the students were here bright and early for school this morning. We finished the story of James Chalmers in history class today. I was choking on the words a bit as I went over the end of the lesson with them and having a hard time keeping back the tears.
I only had to check Graham’s and Sunny’s lessons today as they would be coming this evening to work. So after nap, I made sure everything was ready for tomorrow’s lessons and wrote some problems on the chalkboard for math class. Then I had time to work on the computer for a while before warming up supper. Started some lessons on “How to Study the Bible” to teach in Bible class after we finish the lessons on knowing God’s will. Also read the e-mails that came in today.
After supper, I got all the files open that I needed to print from this evening and was ready to start printing as soon as the generator went on - the next student lesson for Bible school, the next teacher’s lesson for Bible school for Daddy to proofread, new computer lessons for Sunny and Graham for this evening, and the Bible test which the students will probably take on Thursday.
Sunny and Graham came and graded Reading and math lessons, did the dishes, and collated the students’ Bible school lessons before having their computer lesson.
It was 9:30 before they left, and then I needed a bath. Now I’m good and ready for bed. Can hardly keep my eyes open.
