April 4. Did not get a very good night’s rest last night. Was awake for quite a while in the middle of the night. Then the rat made lots of rat-cket early in the morning. They are getting smart to the rat poison now and won’t touch it no matter what else is mixed with it. I wonder what kind of sense they have that makes them smell and not touch “danger” even though something they really like is part of it.
It turned quite cold last night; and when I got up this morning, it looked like it was going to be a really nice, sunny day. Once the fog came up, however, the clouds hung around, making the day very cool.
Daddy got home around 9:00, just after we finished music practice. I am very thankful that he is home and thankful that the plane was able to land. When the plane got here, there was fog hanging on the approach. It was moving slowly to the south, and moved just enough so the plane could make a short turn and land.
The students all went up to help carry cargo. Then we had a short (half hour) phonics class before recess. The students didn’t do any lesson in math today. We did some review of division and multiplication, adding the eight times table to our multiplication facts. Today was game day too. Then the rest of the class time was spent learning (or re-learning) about fractions. It was a fun math class for them as they got to do hands on learning and then eat the things we worked on. We cut Boy-boys into parts, talked about the parts and the whole, and wrote fractions. Then we divided groups of cookies into parts and talked about multiplying by fractions.
After a short break we had oral English, then lunch, and then spelling/English class.
Daddy got most of the food put away while I was in school. I got the freezer cleaned and loaded up in between classes, at lunch time, and after school before nap. I was very thankful for a nap. Would have liked to have slept longer, but needed to wash my hair. Then I prepared uxai, carrots, broccoli, and onions for our supper veggie, and made spaghetti. Had a little time to start grading English lessons and spelling quizzes while supper was cooking.
After supper, the kitchen needed to be cleaned up, laundry needed to be sorted and washed, and dishes needed to be done. I only did two loads of laundry this evening as my back has been giving me quite a bit of trouble. When all that was done, I finished checking the students’ spelling and English, got a snack, and now I’m relaxing. I feel very sleepy too, but need to take a little bath before I go to bed.
