October 22. It is almost 9:00 already. I didn’t get up quite as early this morning. Warmed up pancakes for our breakfast. Cut up an apple and cooked it to go on top of my pancakes since the other fruit was all gone. I have been enjoying the apples that Daddy brought back from town.
Had breakfast and quiet time. Got the bed made. Did some walking and praying. Erased the review lesson in Sunny’s math book as I had forgotten to do that yesterday. Had a few minutes to put some paint on the Nicodemus visual. I thought I might get it done in time for class, but I didn’t. Worked on it this evening before and after bath, and finished it up. The background had never been painted, and the picture needed a little more color.
Had the students practice all their verses this morning in Bible class, and we sang them all. Then we read some verses from Genesis chapter 50 before reviewing the beginning of the story of Nicodemus that we had covered in class on Friday. Then we covered more of the lesson and just have one small part to cover tomorrow after review.
They did part 1 of their math test today and did well on that. Three of the students got 100%. We did not have science class today as some of the students needed more time to finish their math exam.
After school, Sunny and Bonita prepared uxai and onions to cook, and husked corn that we will put out in the sun to dry. Then they folded the clothes that were washed on Saturday. I have decided to save that job for them, and that will give me a little bit more time to do other things.
This afternoon, I finished grading their math exams and recorded today’s grades. Then I computed their final averages for their math worksheets. By then it was time to get supper. Spaghetti night tonight. Cooked up the rest of the sausages to go in the sauce.
After doing dishes, I worked on painting until my bath water was hot, and finished painting after my bath. Got things together for tomorrow’s classes. Printed out part two of their math exam. And now, I am finally writing in my journal.
“And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.” Matthew 9:9
October 23. Wasn’t planning to get up as early as I did this morning, but a bad cramp in my leg forced me out of bed. But that was okay, as there is always plenty to do. After breakfast, quiet time, and walking, I finished finding the animal pictures that I need for the school movie, and copied all those plus recent school pictures onto a flash drive to go in the other computer. The movie is in the other computer because this computer does not have movie maker.
Then it was off to school for the morning. We practiced all our songs this morning and finished the lesson on Nicodemus. Then we reviewed the previous lesson as the test will cover both lessons. There was a little time left so I gave them plastic party bags to put their parents’ gifts in and ribbon to tie the bags with.
They did part two of their math exam this morning so math is now completely finished for the year. Sunny had her chapter 4 math exam and will stop there for this year. We will concentrate on science in that time slot for the next few days. While she was finishing up, Phinehas said his verses for the term and got his prize.
We had leftover spaghetti and pumpkin for dinner. I finished grading the math exams while dinner was warming up. Then this afternoon, I got today’s grades recorded and things together for tomorrow before working on the school movie. Finished that this evening and it is now ready for showing so we hope the computer and projector will work okay together. We have not used our projector with that computer before.
“36But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:36-38
