April 2. It is after 8:30 already. Raining lightly again. The Lord gave us a nice sunny, warm morning. Then this afternoon there was a hard rain shower. The rain drops were so big and made such a loud noise on the roof, I thought it must be hailing. But I didn’t see any hail anywhere.
Amos did a really good job preaching this morning. He only preached on one verse so he summarized first the stories from the beginning of Acts up until the end of chapter five. The summary was well done, and the teaching on verse 42 was also well done. Most of the prayer requests today were about opportunities for preaching the Word in other places. Quite a few people from different villages are asking for somebody to come and give them the Gospel. Mike shared about the opportunities he has been having down at the river. Apparently a couple young Meqauna men got into trouble in their village and ran away to the river. Mike has had several opportunities to share the Gospel with them. He asked them if there is anyone in their village who preaches the Gospel, and they said No. Mike said they have been very attentive to hear what he has to say.
There was a lot of work to grade for school today. I worked on the grading while I was eating my lunch. Sunny gave Thania and Peninnah their last cursive writing lesson. I am going to try to have the students do more writing now. I see that most of them need more practice.
After I was done grading, recording grades, and getting materials ready for tomorrow, I spent the rest of the afternoon in the kitchen. Washed and cut up a pumpkin. and put it on to cook for pumpkin soup. The soup tasted really good. While the soup was cooking, I put away the batches of peanuts that finished drying today and put away the rest of the dishes I had washed on Monday. When the soup was done, I put water on so it could heat for dishes while I ate my supper. Also took out the garbage and the tins and dumped those before doing dishes. When dishes were done, I took the trash out and burned it.
Practiced keyboard for about 45 minutes. Put water on to heat for bath. Added more pages to Graham’s and Sunny’s sermon notes booklets while the bath water was heating. Had my bath. Printed out some math pasteovers and glued them into the nine math books.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17
April 3. The weather today has been pretty dreary. Just a few moments of sunshine now and then. Dallas (Eleazar) was quite late for class this morning. About half the others were also late, but not nearly as late as Dallas.
It has been a very quiet day since school was out. No people coming to the door as they had been the other days. I didn’t have much grading to do today and didn’t have to fix a meal so have had a little more time to work on other things.
“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” James 1:18 (Long laik bilong Em yet…. Amen!)
