The Lord gave us a special surprise this morning -- an email from Mom and Dad. Usually we only hear from them on the weekend, so this email was a special blessing. In this email were a number of praises and prayer requests. Here is an excerpt from that email. Thank you, everyone, for praying.
People who are sick:
Marirunda (Yonupero’s wife); they had gone to the hospital in Goroka to see about getting help for her and found out she has hepatitis B
Matin (formerly known as Parexe), very sick with hepatitis B; pray for salvation or just repentance from sin, whichever is needed; has been out of church for a long time
Ema (Apekio’s littlest one), not sure what she has, severe pain up and down left side; she did have a fever for a few days and was given procaine penicillin
Leon (Pita’s littlest son, about 1 ½ years old); not sure what he has, but is very sick with high fever; Pita came Saturday morning with Leon to have us pray for him; keep praying for God to work in Pita’s life and for him to get back in church and bring his sons
Saino (Tomas, Daniel, and Matyu’s youngest brother – there are six brothers in the family) – shot in the knee by the family of a girl he had an affair with; part of arrow still in knee; unable to walk or straighten leg; finished treatments for possible infection; they are trying to determine if it would be better to send him to the hospital or see if the arrow piece will work its way out. Pray for salvation or repentance from sin; his life style seems to indicate that he is not saved. Praise the Lord that Tomas and all the other brothers stood firm during the trouble and did not retaliate. The brothers did not fight back even though their own clan members kept trying to shame them and talk them into retaliating; please pray that they will continue to stand firm and maintain a good testimony; it is a difficult trial for them.
Newly saved:
Praise the Lord for salvation of Mike Mak (or Maik Maxwi – son of Maxwi); left OBC and went to SDA lotu for a while, but left there; Mike only had four years of education, and his father wanted him to go to school, but he was well past school age. So his father sent him to Bible school. He is now married to a young lady named Taqita. He calls her Lalinda. Pray for wisdom in follow-up, growth, baptism, salvation of his wife (if she isn’t saved – we haven’t met her yet)
House buidling:
Still need sunshine and dry weather; we have a sunny day now and then, but still a storm system hanging around, bringing many cloudy, dark days, and periods of rain.
Pray for Antuma and his family to start bringing bamboo and making the outside walls.
Praise the Lord for Eric. He is the most faithful worker. Always comes even when everyone else has excuses.
Glory Independent Baptist Church:
Praise the Lord for new members, Tomas and Rebeka
