April 26. God is good, and He has given us another good day hearing from His Word. Not much sunshine today. A little rain. Very cool this afternoon.
This morning after breakfast, I practiced keyboard to be ready for this morning. Then I worked on getting the Bible school lessons in order so Daddy can start teaching Wilson.
This morning, the school choir sang “Jisas I Nambawan Pren” and the youth choir sang “Naispela Bible.” Daddy’s preaching today was on using the rod of correction, with most of the verses being from the book of Proverbs, but a few from the New Testament as well. There were a number of questions afterward so it was about 12:30 before people left. Most of the questions centered around “our customs.” Daddy made it plain that God’s ways are not our ways, and that God does not change. Therefore if “our customs” do not line up with God’s Word, it is “our customs” that must change. After everyone left, Peninnah and I swept the floor. Then the school choir practiced for tomorrow. They will sing “Jesus Loves the Little Children” again tomorrow.
It was close to 1:00 before we had our lunch. A nap was very welcome after that. This afternoon, I finished up getting a couple students’ lessons ready for Wilson.
About 4:30, I put a pot of rice and soup beans on to cook for supper. Later added onions and tuna to that, and we had leftover greens. Sat down to eat sometime close to 5:30. Then I did dishes (just a few tonight), gathered up the trash to be burned, and cleaned the bathroom before getting to the computer.
Wilson came right after Daddy turned on the generator, and he had his first Bible school lesson.
“10But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. 11To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” I Peter 5:10,11
April 27. Praise God for His blessings today!
Matthew went down and preached at Wanyapeq this morning.
After breakfast and quiet time, I did a little more work on the Bible school lessons.
There was a good number of people here for the meeting. Daddy talked today about how to discipline children. Before the preaching, there were two specials - school choir and youth choir. Then there were several people who confessed sin. Besides that, Amos gave a little testimony about questions his little son Gideon had asked him as they worked together. And mixed in with leading songs, Tomas gave a testimony of how God had worked in his and Rebecca’s hearts to show them that he was wrong in not bringing his family to church with him. At the end of the meeting, four candidates for baptism gave their testimonies - Max, Tipora, and Matthew’s first two daughters, Ellen and Misaina.
Matthew had the wonderful privilege of leading his two daughters to Christ yesterday evening.
After the meeting, people went down to the river for the baptismal service. Then came back for food and fellowship. It was 1:00 before we started warming up our dinner and 1:45 before we got to nap. But at least there was plenty of time for nap before the afternoon meeting.
Even with the baptism today, there was an afternoon meeting. Started about 3:00. It was question/answer time. There were lots of questions, some of them hard to answer. At least we know they are thinking. It was after 4:30 before the meeting finished.
“3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” II Peter 1:3,4
