March 26. Rain yesterday evening and during the night again. Nice and sunny most of the morning and early afternoon so we were able to put peanuts out to dry.
Amos did a good job preaching this morning. Covered Acts 5:26-41 and gave good applications. Then Matthew continued the applications before taking prayer requests.
School started early so we were able to get quite a bit covered in phonics class. That was a blessing, although it did mean that I had more work to grade today. However, I had extra time for grading in English class when they were taking their test.
It took a while this afternoon to grade the English tests and get all the other grades recorded. Also had to do some printing. Forgot to print the shopping list yesterday, and didn’t realize the three new students needed the rest of math lesson 29 printed as well as lesson 30. After I got the printing done, I went and started making a pizza for supper. When the pizza was about ready to go into the oven, I started the pumpkin cooking that Lew had helped me cut up earlier. While supper was cooking, I got some things written on the chalkboard for tomorrow while it was still light in the schoolroom. Finished right after supper while the dish water was heating. It would be too dark later because we are not running the generator right now. The freezer is pretty much empty.
After doing dishes, I found some music to practice for tomorrow and spent a little time at the keyboard.
“5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” Hebrews 13:5,6
March 27. A warm and humid day. It must have rained a little bit during the night because the water was dripping from the leaks this morning when Daddy got up.
After reviewing verses this morning in Bible class, we practiced music. Besides “The Old Rugged Cross,” the students want to sing “The Banner of the Cross” and “He Is Able” on Sunday.
The students seemed to enjoy the short social studies lesson on the continent of Antarctica today.
It was a blessing to only have one class to grade lessons for today - math lessons. Then I was busy in the kitchen for a while. Tonka had brought some greens today so I got those sorted and washed. Then I sautéed some onions and added soup beans and rice and put that on to cook for our supper. While I was doing that, somebody came with some uxai so I got that husked and cut it up with some onion and the greens and put that on to cook. While things were cooking, I dumped the dried peanuts into an empty flour bag and added some more from our mostly full flour bag so we have a good bunch to give to the pilots when they come to get Daddy on Monday. I also started getting things ready for tomorrow’s lessons. Finished that job after supper while dish water was heating.
After doing dishes, I practiced keyboard until just a little while ago. Now it is time for bath.
