February 12. A foggy morning, but more sunshine than we’ve been having.
Fixed pancakes for Daddy for breakfast, but made muffins for myself. After breakfast and quiet time, I started making sure things are ready for tomorrow. Swept the meeting room too. Can’t remember what else I did.
People came early for lotu so we were able to get an early start. Daddy preached on Romans 12:9,10 in the first meeting and continued with qualifications for pastor in the second.
Between meetings, the men discussed the special outreach meetings for their baptism so we got started a bit late for the second meeting. Daddy and I had our dinner in between times. It was going on 3:00 before we had nap. After nap, I prepared dinner for tomorrow since I will be too busy in the morning, doing laundry and then school.
This evening, there was printing to do — notices for the special meetings; papers for school; and I need to do more soul-winning lessons too after this. We also have soul-winning class tonight. So am going back and forth to write answers on the chalkboard.
“9I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. 10For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. 11Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.” Psalm 57:9-11
February 13. It has been a very busy day, and I am tired this evening. Up early so we could get laundry washed and hung out before starting school.
At 9:00, the parents were here with the school children so I could explain to them what we would be doing and what would be expected as far as behaviour. Matyu did most of the talking for the parents, and Amos and Gibson seemed to be agreeing. Poor Daniel, however, sat with his eyes closed a good part of the time. Not sure what he was thinking.
After the parents left, I talked with the students (Graham, Sosthenes, Stephanas, and Bonita) a bit to tell them what they should do each morning when they come. Got all their books and supplies out for them. In Bible class, we read the first 13 verses of Genesis 1 before reviewing questions from past lessons. Assigned them a few verses to read at home.
Took a little break and then went to math class, and after that, English class. The time went fast, and it was noon before I knew it. Put food on to warm while they were finishing up some seat work. Soon it was 12:30 and time for them to put things away and go home. Close to 1:00 before we had dinner and then nap. Daddy got the clothes in around noon.
After nap, I made some popo crisp with the rest of the popo I had cut up yesterday. Swept the kitchen and office floors. Started getting everything in order for tomorrow’s classes. However, there were at least half a dozen interruptions in the hour that I had to work on that before supper. So still had more preparations to take care of after supper and dishes. Sure wish I had time to teach. I especially enjoy working with just a small group.
“18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (I Corinthians 1:18-21)
