September 7. No additional measurable rain last night. Much cloudier and foggier this morning than it has been and not a very good drying day for the laundry. But, praise the Lord, it didn’t rain until afternoon. We got all the dry clothes in just before noon. Were going to leave the rest out until after dinner, but then it sounded like rain coming so Daddy went out and got them in while I finished getting dinner ready. Then I hung them in the other room after dinner to finish drying.
After doing laundry this morning, and having prayer time, I checked over Luke chapter 18. Daddy went up to the airstrip to see who was working, how they were doing, and to talk to them a bit. The men have agreed to work while we are in town. Praise the Lord, they finished laying the rest of the ooqdi floors today. There are a few floors that will need bamboo.
After Daddy left to go up the hill, Nuka came by. Her father had told her to come see if we need more bamboo. He has some close by here, and Nuka would get some people to help her cut and bring it. We had just been talking yesterday about needing to get more.
Then Silvia asked her ladies’ group to help split the bamboo. And there are 18 ladies that have agreed to do that. Two of them will cook food for all the workers.
After nap, I worked on monthly updates, starting to get e-mails ready to send. Then started working on a Sunday school lesson. Later I noticed that my battery had gone way down to 25% even though I had it connected to the inverter. We couldn’t find any loose connections. We tried the other computer and it worked fine. We were afraid the problem was in the computer adapter, but it is working fine tonight on the power. So maybe something wasn’t connecting quite right or something. Anyway we praise the Lord that it is working.
After I shut the computer down, I made some peanut butter bars for Daddy. Then got supper.
“9Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9,10
September 8. .7” rain last night. Looked like we were going to get rain again today, but it turned out to be a nice day. People did community work today so no work on the house. Tomorrow they are supposed to start splitting bamboo. This morning Inok came and said that the ladies have gotten most of the bamboo up to Ahninyauntapeq and should start bringing it up to the house site tomorrow. Then he and his father will cut more. So looks like Antuma has more after all. He was just waiting for what had been cut to be carried up. So if Nuka brings bamboo too, it looks like we’ll have plenty.
It was pretty much a quiet day around here. After breakfast and quiet time, I checked another chapter of Luke. Later I did some cleanup in the e-mail sent box and inbox. Didn’t have to do any cooking for dinner — just warm things up.
After I got up, I worked on e-mails. Then on journal notes to send Christy and Connie.
Yujin came and filled up the water drum.
Later in the afternoon, Maik came. Daddy talked with him a while about baptism, and they read the doctrinal booklet together, talking about the importance of baptism and its significance. It was decided that Mike will be baptized two weeks from this Sunday. That will be the 25th.
“23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 24Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. 25Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. 27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” Proverbs 4:23-27
