October 24. It is just about 6:30. At about 6:00, when it was time for Daddy to start the generator, very heavy rain started falling. Sounds like it is slowing down now so Daddy is going out to start the generator. Oops! Sounds like there will be more coming. I hear rolling, rumbling thunder out there. Looks like Daddy will cancel Bible school for this evening. The men just got back from a day in the bush cutting down trees for the church building. The school boys went after school to help them. Two of the men and two of the school boys are here now, waiting out the rain before going home. We are happy to see them starting to put some feet to their prayers and gathering materials for the church building.
Even though it was foggy this morning, people came at a good time for lotu. Since we started somewhat early, we finished somewhat early and were able to start and finish school early. Daddy continued teaching this morning on things that we have in Christ, talking about the Christian’s armor and about joy.
We only had English class and science class today since we finished math yesterday with the second half of the final exam.
Afterward I got all the grading and recording of grades done and got everything together for tomorrow. Before I warmed up dinner, I even had time to start figuring out who would be getting what awards at the closing program. I also started gathering some prizes for school game day and thinking about what games to play. Then I figured out the costs of next year’s school books so I can give the parents a summary of their school costs for the year.
“22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved…. 24The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. 25It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 26Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 27What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 28And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:22-28
October 25. Rained and rained and rained during the night. The world was pretty wet this morning. It has been a pretty warm day, though, and no rain to speak of.
This morning after breakfast, quiet time, and walking, I worked on games for the kids’ fun day next Wednesday. We practiced all the verses this morning in Bible class, finished the rest of Genesis chapter 50, played a quiz game, and then they took their test on the last two lessons. That finishes their Bible lessons for the year. Tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday, we will concentrate on practicing for the program and making decorations. If there is time left, we will play some Bible quiz games.
For science class today, we spent time looking at their stone collections and trying to determine what kind of stones they were.
After school, Graham and Esau cut firewood, and Bonita and Sunny did some food preparation.
This afternoon, there was just a little grading to do and record and a few things to get ready for tomorrow. Then I finished getting game things and prizes together for game day. Also tried writing a song for the choir to sing during the New Year meetings, but I couldn’t seem to come up with what I wanted. Daddy cut up pumpkin for me, and I made mashed potatoes for supper to go with the pumpkin. I also cooked a couple ears of corn for David who had been here all day splitting bamboo and then laying a floor on the back porch.
This evening, after doing dishes, the Lord helped me to get a song written to the tune of “Why Must I Die?” Daddy has been working on trying to get the school video to work with the projector, but so far we have not been successful.
“37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew 10:37-39
