March 3. Whew! 8:05 p.m. I am so thankful to be sitting down. Have been on my feet since 4:30 except to sit down a few minutes and eat supper.
The day started out cold and rainy like it has been. This evening, it seems to be a bit warmer. I’m glad for that as I really would like to have a bath this evening after I relax a while.
Over half the class was late for school this morning. I guess it’s hard to get up in this cold, dreary weather.
Francis came to visit classes today. I don’t know if he would be able to keep up with what is going on, or not.
Our Oral English class was shorter today since we had three short little dialogues but no drills. We all went for lunch about 12:10 and then back for Spelling class around 12:50.
Phinehas and Dallas cut a few boxes of firewood as our firewood was nearly gone. George is supposed to come tomorrow and cut some, but we needed a little today to hold us over until tomorrow.
It was a little after 2:00 when we lay down for nap, and I didn’t wake up until 3:15. I wanted to wash my hair, but it was too cold and also too late. Cut up the popo and had snack and then got right down to business finishing up today’s grading and recording grades. As soon as that was done, I went to the kitchen to work. Put a pot of rice on the wood stove. Washed and cut up carrots and put those on to cook. Then we cleaned out the freezer. What a mess. I had put the meat in extra bags, but somehow meat juices still leaked out, and the bottom of the freezer was covered with red water. We were afraid it had gotten into the bread which was in plastic bags in the bottom of the freezer, but all the bags of bread were okay. Praise the Lord! After getting that mess cleaned up, I sautéed some onion and cooked a piece of mince with it. Added that to the rice when the rice got done.
After we ate and the kitchen was cleaned up, I went and sorted out the laundry before starting dishes. Was almost done with dishes before Daddy turned on the generator and we started laundry.
While the clothes were washing, I started getting things in order for classes tomorrow and writing some things on the chalkboard.
“14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14-16
March 4. Yes, another day of clouds, cold winds, and rain. Up early this a.m. to hang out the clothes. I was thankful for the wind in the morning and that the Lord held back the rains until later so the clothes could get dry.
When I came back in, I fixed some hot oatmeal for my breakfast. Ate, read Bible, and prayed. Some of the students were here by 7:30 this morning. Francis was here again to observe classes, and also took part in most of them. He said he wants to observe yet before he makes a decision about becoming a regular student.
After school Phinehas, Bethuel, and Esau cut firewood because George did not show up to do that. Sunny did another cursive writing lesson with Peninnah and Thania. (I learned that she – Thania – spells her name with an “h” after the “T.”)
Even though we got done with school on time, we were late getting to nap because it took so long for our dinner to warm up. The wood stove wasn’t very hot, for some reason.
Slept until almost 3:00. Then washed my hair before finishing up the grading and getting things together for classes tomorrow. Spent a little time at the computer before going to the kitchen and making biscuits for supper. The wood stove was plenty hot this evening, and some of my biscuits burned. :-(
“And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him….” Hebrews 5:9
