March 30. It started raining in the middle of the evening last night and rained and rained and rained. Don’t know what time it stopped, but it was still raining hard at 1:00 a.m. when I got up. After that, I didn’t wake up until 5:30. The water was really muddy.
A wee bit of sunshine today, but mostly cloudy and damp. Rain came before the students finished school today. It has been raining off and on most of the afternoon.
Daddy hasn’t felt good today. Has been dizzy, and this evening he started feeling sick to his stomach. After he took some activated charcoal, though, he was able to eat supper.
I woke up from nap today with an earache and sore throat and then started sneezing and coughing - the beginning of a cold. So neither one of us were feeling well this afternoon. Daddy is lying down resting this evening. Sunny and Graham are here working and will have their computer lesson, and Phinehas is studying.
There wasn’t much grading to do today, but there was quite a bit to write on the chalkboard for tomorrow. Have also been working on averaging up grades so I can have their report cards ready by Friday.
“The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.” 2 Samuel 22:47
March 31. Before I went to bed last night, I figured I was coming down with strep throat again so started on amoxicillin right away. The night was long, and I did not sleep comfortably. By the time I went to bed, I was too congested to sleep. Finally got up and got extra pillows and allergy med. Slept for a few hours, but then woke up with my throat really, really sore. It had been long enough to take another dose of amoxicillin. Also took some white willow. I figured I wouldn’t be getting up this morning to teach school. Don’t know what time I finally got up. I was feeling the need for something to eat. Had breakfast and quiet time and then dozed in the recliner for quite a while.
Most of my waking hours today were spent averaging grades for the report cards. Am thankful to have all that done. Just need to fill in the report cards now. I also made soup for lunch. Soup sounded like a good thing for a sick person. Daddy is still not feeling quite himself either. He is going to try to teach Bible school this evening, however.
The church people spent yesterday and today cutting the grass on the airstrip. The Lord gave us a lovely, warm, clear blue sky day today. It got quite warm in the house by noon because there was no wind. I was happy to get out for a few minutes in the sunshine. Didn’t sleep very long at nap time because I was too hot, but dozed a while in the recliner after supper. Then I had my bath while the evening was still warm.
“When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.” John 2:22
April 1. Went to bed early last night and rested a bit better than the night before. I also slept for a while in the recliner after breakfast so I wouldn’t be too tired for school. Even then, the morning was tiring for me. I thank the Lord for His strength to help me through the morning. Enjoyed a longer, restful nap this afternoon, and have felt much better this afternoon.
The Lord gave us another very warm, sunny day. Pretty blue sky this morning, but clouds were back again this afternoon. It is still quite warm this evening.
Amos preached on Acts 15:22-32 this morning, telling about the letter written from the church in Jerusalem to the churches in Antioch and other areas.
This afternoon, after grading a few lessons and writing some lessons on the chalkboard for tomorrow, I turned to the kitchen where I made popo crisp for supper and peanut butter cookies for Daddy. I saved a little bit of the cookie dough and added cocoa to it to make cookies for myself.
Thania spent over three hours today doing the rest of the grading for me. I was very grateful for her help.
After supper, I started marking grades on the lessons and then recording them. John and Margaret were here this evening for about an hour, and we enjoyed the time to just get acquainted with them a bit. We also gave them each an English Bible from the ones that a fellow worker on another field and their church had sent. Our prayer is for John and Margaret to be saved.
Amos was here teaching youth meeting. After John and Margaret left, I got a snack and did the dishes. Now I’m tired so needed to sit down and relax for a while. Then I will heat bath water and take a bath.
“14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:14-18
