June 1. A new month. The sixth month of the year already.
There was sadness in my heart this morning. Esau came a little while before school to talk. He was greatly distressed because of sin. After we prayed and cried together, he left. It was 8:15 before I got to school. It was hard for me to pray, so I asked Dallas to pray this morning. Then we sang “More About Jesus”, although I had a hard time singing, too, without my voice breaking. After that, they translated Proverbs 3:6 for memorization and then we started our music lesson.
I had a hard time sleeping at nap time today, not because of troubled thoughts, but because of body pains so I really didn’t get much of a nap and am tired tonight.
It was early evening when Esau came back. I went to get a box for him to put his books in. He was very upset, however, and it seemed that he needed to talk some more. So I asked him if he wanted to sit down and talk again first. He did. We spent quite a while talking. He is feeling the burden of his sin even though he has confessed it to the Lord. He sees that his parents are not happy with him, and that makes him fell more unhappy. I went and got the Pidgin Psalm book and read to him Psalm 51 and then Psalm 32:1-5, sharing the story of David; God’s love, mercy, and forgiveness; and how God blessed and used David even after he had sinned. Those verses were a great comfort to Esau. I suggested it would be good for him to continue in school too even if only for the opportunity to learn more of God’s Word. He wanted to continue school and said he will be back tomorrow. He asked me to pray for him again before he left which I was happy to do. He left much happier than when he came.
There wasn’t much work for Sunny and Graham this evening. Just phonics workbooks to check and a few dishes to do. Then they had their computer lesson. While they were doing that, I remembered that we needed to have rice ground for cereal. So after Graham finished his computer practice, I had him start grinding the rice. Then Sunny helped him after she finished her computer practice.
“17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 18As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. 20Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” John 17:17-21
June 2. The Lord blessed us with a warm, sunny day today.
It was after 2:30 before I got to nap this afternoon as Esau was here making up work that he missed yesterday. Slept a little less than an hour. After I got up, I cut up a popo for snack. Fresh fruit was very refreshing as we haven’t had much lately. Then I graded lessons until supper time. Finished the last of our leftover canned food pie for supper.
Finished grading the last two math lessons after supper and then put some math exercises on the chalkboard for tomorrow.
This evening I am washing clothes, and Daddy is teaching Bible school.
