August 3. Sleep was still fitful last night, but I was thankful that I didn’t cough. And I praise the Lord for His strength for the day today.
The students all did well on their math test, although some of the same students still missed perimeter and area even though I had them take time to look over their mistakes on the review lesson and study it before the test. Oh, well! They all did well on their history review too.
This afternoon, I prepared a few potatoes and carrots to add to our chicken gravy so we had a nice chicken stew for supper. Looked over tomorrow’s lessons and wrote a few things on the chalkboard. And started filling in the notes on the song I was copying in a lower key for the male voices to sing.
“15What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. 16Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Romans 6:15,16
August 4. Was thankful for a better night’s rest last night.
Today was quite cold. The skies were very blue and clear, but an icy wind blew--sometimes from the south, sometimes from the west, sometimes from the north. (In the evening it blew from the east.)
Today Eli had to do all the jobs after school because he forgot to do his job yesterday, and that was his fifth demerit for missing his job. Five demerits and the student has to do all the jobs for the day. He didn’t seem to mind.
Matthew and the school students decided that the church would buy the keyboard so that it can be at the church for any of the church members to use. Actually the youth paid for the keyboard so it now belongs to them although I will be using it until we leave.
The young lady students plus some other young ladies got yarn today to make bilums (string bags) for us to take home for gifts.
After school, Esau, Steve, and Sosthenes chopped firewood.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 Sin’s wages are earned, but eternal life can never be earned. It is a gift freely given to all who believe. Thanks be to God!
