July 9. Praise the Lord for some sunshine today and a little bit warmer day.
Just a small group here for lotu. Amos preached on the first four verses of Acts chapter 8. It was a good message.
Afterward Amos and Daniel worked on laying the pipeline so we can move the people’s water tap outside the fence. They spent a good part of the day working on that. They have it all set up, but have to wait until tomorrow to try it out. The glue has to set for 24 hours. If all works well, then they will cover up the pipeline.
Sosthenes, Graham and Thania looked after the store his morning, and Bonita and Peninnah were here this afternoon. We tried to help them learn how to use the calculator so they could be more accurate in their transactions.
I spent some time working on lessons in the computer, folded yesterdays’ clothes, sorted and folded plastic bags, burned the trash, and did other odd jobs.
“ Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness….” II Corinthians 9:10
July 10. Quite a bit of rain during the night. A few minutes of sunshine throughout the day, but mostly cloudy. More rain this afternoon. We thank the Lord for the rain.
It has been a mostly quiet day too, except for the children out playing on the “playground” here all morning and beyond. The youth and some of the parents all went to Tainaraba today to play ball. However, we just heard that they didn’t play today because Tainaraba was expecting them to come yesterday. And since they didn’t come, Tainaraba wasn’t prepared for them to come today. So they are supposed to go play tomorrow.
I didn’t get to go out for a walk today. The ground was too muddy after the somewhat heavy rain during the night. Spent a good part of the morning doing computer work. Sent a couple e-mails. We were thankful to get a good connection this morning even though the weather was very foggy. Printed out a large map of PNG, a little less than 2 x 3 feet. The students are going to be studying major rivers and cities in social studies, but the book teaches those in North America. I think it would be more profitable for them to learn about those in their own country and neighboring Australia.
After I shut down the computer, I put the parts of the map together and started coloring it. Before lunch, I started making some coconut mandarin cookie bars and some whole wheat crackers. After we ate, I got those ready to go into the oven. When they were done baking, we had our nap (about 2:00).
After nap, I finished coloring/painting the map. By then, it was just about supper time. Washed out the pressure cooker since we finished up the soup today (except for about a cupful which is now in the fridge) and put yesterday’s greens in it to bring up to pressure. After supper, I washed up the other bunch of greens that Yerontse brought us yesterday afternoon. Will cook those up this evening after I wash the big frypan.
“(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.)” II Corinthians 10:4
July 11. Rain during the night and rain almost all day today. Daddy has had the wood stove going today. We are grateful for a little warmth in this chilly, damp weather. It is a blessing to have the rain since the rivers and streams were getting pretty low. However, we are asking the Lord for a little sunshine too. Even when we didn’t get rain, there wasn’t much sunshine.
People went back to Tainaraba today to play ball since they didn’t play yesterday. I don’t know how many made it back for Bible school. Daddy is out there teaching now.
Slept in a little later this morning. Made a few more pancakes for my breakfast since I only had one left. Had quiet time and exercise time. Wrote an e-mail. Got rid of some old mail from the inbox. Swept the bedroom and washed the floor. Washed the floor in the kitchen area too. Made spaghetti for dinner.
Had just a short nap today. Afterward I worked quite a while on the drama for this year’s closing program for school. That won’t be until mid-November, but we really need to be practicing the music now.
When I was ready for a break from the computer, I changed the sheets on the bed and got the clothes sorted out for doing laundry this evening. Just finished doing laundry, and after a little rest, I’ll get my bath before the house gets any colder.
“13For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” II Corinthians 11:13-15
