April 14. Last night, my head didn’t want to sleep, and all the night noises attributed to keeping me awake for a long time too - snoring, rat races, and fights with dragons (moths) who wanted to get in bed with me. It rained quite a bit during the night too.
I was happy to get up when I heard the lotu bell ring this morning. Had my lemon drink, and then started on the pancakes. At least I had gotten most of the ingredients together the night before so I didn’t have to be quite so long on my feet.
While I was waiting for my breakfast, I got the bed made. Then pulled my chair over near the stove and sat and read my Bible while the pancakes were cooking. After breakfast and quiet time, I washed the chalkboard, dusted the pulpit, locked the cupboard, and covered the books. Punched holes in the new soul-winning lessons that Daddy had collated, got pieces of card paper cut up for the students to make personal flash cards tomorrow, and started making up a Bible test for this week.
People came early for lotu. There were not as many here today. After I had sat for an hour, I couldn’t sit any longer. Went and lay down for a nap as I was tired after not getting much sleep last night. I was still asleep when Daddy came in after the meeting.
He preached this morning on I Corinthians 10:6-19. In the afternoon meeting, he preached on verses 20-23, hitting on some cultural things that sparked a good deal of interest. I listened from the bedroom where I could be comfortable in the recliner.
Since I had already had a long nap in the morning, I washed my hair while Daddy was resting and then finished making up the Bible test. Then it was time to get supper.
After dishes, I practiced keyboard for a little while before starting some scanning and printing and getting papers ready for school tomorrow and some for later in the week.
“Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” John 15:3
April 15. Rain early in the morning. Then the Lord sent us some sunshine until late afternoon. Turned quite cool this afternoon so Daddy got a fire going in the wood stove. It is raining this evening.
Amos finished the roof on his house today. Matthew helped him a while this afternoon. He still needs to make a door for his house. Then they were going to go to Marivo to pick coffee. People said that coffee is ripe now and ready to be picked again. Some of these people have coffee gardens in Marivo.
Didn’t get much grading done in school today so had lots to do this afternoon. Then I fixed up the greens that Erisapet’s mother had brought and cooked them for supper. Made a pizza crust and filled it with the rest of the spaghetti and some extra spaghetti sauce and cheese.
“4Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:4,5
