Mrs. Surrett shared a couple prayer requests first. One was for a family in Gastonia whose story was in the newspaper - Greg and Terry. The husband had stopped at a rest stop; and while he was there a couple men came into the restroom. Greg felt uneasy and hurried to go out, but one of the men drew a gun and shot him in the back. He is now bedridden (probably for life); and they also have four young children, all of whom need special care. In the newspaper article, the mother said, “As much as we want these men brought to justice, we desire more that they come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
After Connie prayed, I started sharing more of my testimony. I thank the Lord for His help once again.
During the preaching service, we sat in the kitchen again because of Daddy’s cough. However, he still had to go out because of coughing spells. Pastor Ogle preached this morning on Philippians 4:7 on “Peace.”
This evening, Pastor Ogle had a number of men read different Scripture passages related to the birth of Christ and fulfillment of OT prophecies related to His birth. We sang several songs amongst the readings.
It was good to see Jim and Susan Kohr who had stopped in for the meeting.
“For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” I Corinthians 1:17
December 7. The Lord gave us a lovely day today.
After breakfast and quiet time, I stapled PNG Sunday school lessons together that needed stapling and put each set in a folder to pack and send to PNG. Also wrote a note to Peninnah.
Around 9:30, we went out for a long ride down Zion Church Road looking for a house that had been recommended for us to look at, but never found anything. Next stop was WalMart so Daddy could add money to his phone account. Also bought a mailer to send Sunday school lessons in to PNG and some construction paper to use for visuals in the future. Actually we should have gone to Aldi before WalMart but forgot so came back there after WalMart and got a few groceries.
From there we stopped at Burkes where I got a jacket with senior citizen discount. Then to Dollar Tree where Daddy wanted to get some coffee, but he didn’t find anything he wanted. We did find some yummy shortbread cookies drizzled with chocolate.
After nap, I got everything together and put into the mailer to be sent to PNG. Just waiting for Connie to finish the visuals. Also wrote a note to Thania to put in.
Our supper was leftover soup made with rice, noodles, turkey, turkey gravy, corn, and a can of cream of celery soup. First ate salad and then enjoyed the soup.
This evening, I tried to figure out how to add pictures to the new computer. No success. I did discover that the new computer has a nice image editor and I edited and saved some pictures right on the flash drive. Will I ever get to use the computer?
“18For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20Where isthe wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” I Corinthians 1:18-21
