April 24. Before I got up this morning, I remembered that I was going to ask Daddy if he wanted a visual made for his preaching today. He did. So after breakfast and quiet time, I got down to business cutting and preparing materials for “Adding” as in 2 Peter chapter 1. Holes were punched in each piece so they could be added one by one. Bilip (faith) was nailed to the wall, and all the other things were put in an envelope. As he covered each point, he attached the quality added to the one above it with a paper fastener. Visuals are a great thing for these people. They really help them to understand and remember what is taught.
By the time that was done, it was time for the kids to come practice their song and then time for the first meeting to start. Only Sosthenes and Steve had come around for practice, and since nobody else came, they soon left. Around 9:30 about five others showed up. So we had practice with just the five. Steve and Sosthenes never came back, and Esau and Bethuel were late. The meeting started quite late anyway.
There was a good group here - between 80 and 90 - some unsaved also, including Erisapet’s mother. A couple people were here from Marivo. Everyone seemed to be challenged and encouraged by the preaching. We are thankful to the Lord for answering prayer and helping Daddy with his voice. I had a little nap toward the end of the first meeting and another little one after our lunch before the second meeting. The church ladies had prepared food for everyone.
In the afternoon, MAF called to let Daddy know that they will come and get him next Thursday.
What was left of the afternoon, I worked on ministry updates hoping to get them ready to go out in the evening. I also made myself some pumpkin soup for supper. There was still a little spaghetti left for Daddy.
April 25. I did not get any e-mails sent last night. After doing dishes, I just went to bed. Felt better this morning, so after breakfast, I got the update e-mails ready to go and sent them out before the meeting. No visuals were needed today for his preaching on Christian Warfare. We didn’t get started any earlier though. The church folks worked on the airstrip early this morning. Later in the morning, the teacher sent the school kids up to work on the airstrip. And the men of the community were also out working. Praise the Lord! So within a couple hours, the whole job was done.
The meeting started about the same time as yesterday. There were a lot more people here today. Erisapet’s mother was here again, and quite a few Marivo people were here. When the work was done on the airstrip, a lot of the young people from the community school came streaming in. There must have been around 150 total by the end of the meeting. Most of them stayed for the afternoon meeting as well. Between meetings, there was food for all prepared by the church ladies.
There were three groups singing specials this afternoon -- the church youth and the church ladies besides the GCS students. While the afternoon meeting was still in progress, the rain started. It rained and rained and rained, faster and harder. Daddy and Tomas had to raise their voices to be heard. The people stayed around inside the meeting room for a long time afterward until the rain let up. We just hope the heavy rain didn’t mess up the men’s work on the airstrip.
After nap this afternoon, I got more e-mails ready to send. Fixed a pot of rice and lentils for Daddy’s supper, and some more pumpkin too. I still had pumpkin soup left. After dishes, I made nine bananas, each labeled with one of the fruit of the Spirit. They will be used for tomorrow’s preaching and attached with Velcro one by one to a chart.
“26At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you: 27For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.” John 16:26,27
