November 3. Some sunshine this morning, but the rains started early, before noon. This morning after breakfast, I started getting other things together for Funday on Tuesday. Also started making name tags to put on the actors’ shirts for the drama. People were late coming up from the gardens and thus were late for church. It was about 10:20 when lotu started.
It was a good day with God’s people. In the two meetings today, Daddy went over with the church the qualifications for elders. He handed out a printed list of the qualifications for the church members to take home and talk over and pray about. At the end of the second meeting, he presented Matthew and David to the church to consider for ordination as pastors. The people seemed quite excited about the possibility of soon having their own pastors. Next week, they will vote on the two men.
Between meetings, Matthew talked with the church about what the Lord had taught him concerning strength and weakness. The Lord opened his eyes to see that when the other people slander and reproach us, it makes us stronger. If we talk about them, that makes us weaker. Praise the Lord for making that plain to him!
This afternoon, I went over the names on the name tags with markers and finished getting things together for games. This evening, there were a couple things to print. Then I made a birthday card for Mrs. H…. and tried to send that off with an e-mail to Christy and Connie so they could print it out and take it to her. However, there was a too-big e-mail trying to come in, and it was messing things up. Daddy did manage to get into web mail and put it in the trash, but that takes quite a while and uses up quite a bit of the time on our modem. After that, the other e-mail came in that was behind it. However, our outgoing mail wouldn’t go. They kept telling us that the sending was complete. So guess we’ll have to try again later.
“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father….” Galatians 1:4
November 4. 8:00 p.m. It has been a busy day. No rain today. We are thankful for a little break from the wet weather.
This morning after breakfast, I remembered that I hadn’t turned the page over that I had printed out with the list of games (there were more games on the back) so I still had a few things to get ready for games tomorrow. Worked on that until time for school. All the students were here early today because they had carried coffee up to the airstrip for different people. The twin otter was scheduled to come today to do coffee shuttles. We learned, however, that the pilot had had a bicycle accident and injured his leg so he could not fly today. (Found out later that it was his arm he injured, not his leg.)
We finished up the study of applications from Daniel this morning. Then we talked about several other things related to this week’s events. Took a little break and then practiced the drama a couple times. We all made quite a few mistakes the first time - yes, myself included. I guess we had had too long a weekend or something. The second time went much smoother. Sosthenes came down with a headache, and it got worse as the morning wore on. He left right away as soon as practice was over. The others stayed and helped clean up today before leaving.
Sosthenes’s sisters came this evening to get some medicine for him. He had thrown up nine times this afternoon, they said. The only thing we had to give him was activated charcoal so we sent some of that up with instructions on how to use it. Phinehas and Dallas helped explain to the girls, and I wrote it down as well. So hopefully they got it straight.
Phinehas and Dallas are here this evening painting the statue representation of Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image. I just finished getting it drawn a few minutes ago. They started painting at the top while I finished drawing the bottom.
We finished up our drama practice around noon today. Had sandwiches for lunch. Desi had brought an avocado this morning, and it was just the right ripeness to use with my sandwiches.
After nap, I started getting things ready for the party refreshments tomorrow and putting ingredients together for banana bread. Also washed the wee bundle of greens that a girl brought this morning and set them aside to drain off. Then I got out the cardboard boxes we had flattened before and didn’t need for the fire, and started cutting the flaps off those so I could join them together to make the statue - needed about 100 inches in length. Later I cut up the greens with some onion so they would be ready to cook. Finished mixing up the banana bread and put that in muffin tins to be baked. Got that into the oven and started the greens cooking. Started measuring and getting ready to draw while veggies were cooking and leftover rice was warming up. After dishes were done, I went back to work drawing the statue. The statue is the height of the wall where it will be placed for the drama, and we will nail it to the wall when it is ready.
