Today I wrote e-mails, made tortillas, and worked on Sunday school lessons. Christy and Connie came over and made dinner (escalloped potatoes) for themselves and Daddy. Christy took Daddy out to try to get his driver’s license, but they won’t even let him take a test unless he has proof of insurance with his name on it for the car he will be driving. So Christy is going to try to get his name on her insurance for now.
Then they went to Aldi to do some shopping before coming back for lunch. I was already having my nap by then. Later, she took him to WalMart to get some white vinegar to clean the humidifier.
Tonight was the Pie and Praise service at church. Christy had made fudge for the occasion. Even though I was feeling better today, I did not feel enough better to go out tonight.
“16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:16 To believe is to obey. In verses 18-21 - Israel heard, but they were disobedient. No faith.
November 25. Used the humidifier part of the night.
Christy went to school around noon and had her math test. Got 100% on that. She was going to bring Connie here first and then go back for school, but traffic was backed up so there wasn’t time. She went straight to school, and Connie went and waited for her. Afterward they came here and had their lunch. Then Christy took Daddy out to try again to get his driver’s license. Her insurance company had already sent word to the DMV that Daddy was added to her insurance. Daddy got his license with no trouble. Praise the Lord! Now we need to get a car.
November 26. The Lord gave us a beautiful day.
After my early morning shower, I had breakfast, quiet time, and time to look over notes for talking to the ladies on Sunday. About mid-morning, I started peeling and cutting up potatoes to make mashed potatoes for dinner today. Christy came and picked us up around noon. Then we went back to her place to pick up Connie, and went from there to Mel and Ellen’s. Besides Mel and Ellen and the four of us, Mel III and Jenny and their six K’s were there (Kylie, Kennedy, Kade, Kole, Karrington, and Koen) - fourteen of us to celebrate Thanksgiving Day together. Another K (Kreed) due to be born in a couple weeks.
Enjoyed both the fellowship and the food. Too much good stuff to eat - turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, carrots, corn, broccoli salad, cranberry relish, maybe something else I don’t remember. Then there were desserts - cheese cake by Christy, fudge by Connie, French silk pie by Kennedy, apple dumplings by Kylie, pecan pie, something else (?). I just took a small foam bowl and had one little dab of each. How much we have to be thankful for when people in many parts of the world have little or nothing!
After dinner and fellowship at the table, we read Psalm 107. Earlier Ellen had had us each write the alphabet and then one thing we were thankful for, for each letter of the alphabet. No names were written on the cards with the lists so we played a game with those. Mel III took the lists and read the item for ‘a’ on the first card. We had to try to guess who had written that item. A point was received for a correct guess. The same procedure was followed for each of the other 25 letters of the alphabet. After that, I was really tired so we came back to the house. I took a little nap, and Daddy and the girls did other things.
This evening, Daddy received a text on his phone from Steve. He has a van that he wants to sell us for $1.00. Praise the Lord! This is an answer to prayer. We had been planning to go look at some vans tomorrow. Daddy would need some way to get down to GA and pick up the vehicle. Steve said he would see what he could work out.
“33O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! 34For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? 35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? 36For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” Romans 11:33-36
