January 1, 2010. Rained most of the night. I had a hard time getting to sleep. Was awake until well after midnight. Finally got up and had a snack after the welcoming in of the New Year by the villagers.
Finished the last few stitches of Gold and Purple Dawn baby afghan this morning. Thankful to have it done. Now it can go to Hega for her baby.
Daddy and I rechecked Romans 3 this morning and Romans 4 this afternoon. We are thankful for the Lord’s help and would like to get it done as soon as possible; then have Nuanda go over the tokples and revise it.
After we worked on Romans this morning, I still took my prayer and Bible study time in secret, even though Daddy was home. After that, I got the bed made, took a picture of Gold and Purple Dawn, swept spider webs off the ceiling around the house, did the dishes, made corrections in the computer for Romans 1-3, prepared pumpkin and uxai and fish patties for dinner.
After dinner, I got bread dough made and set for rising. Mashed bananas and added tea and sugar to use for making banana bread after nap.
Besides the baking and working on Romans this afternoon, I enjoyed playing keyboard. Then I got corrections for Romans 4 into the computer before getting supper. After supper, I did dishes again, relaxed a few minutes, then washed up.
January 2. It was a rainy morning, and cloudy mostly all day. It is raining this evening. Has been somewhat cool all day. Shirts, blouses, trousers, and dresses got hung in the house this morning. Then when it looked like it wasn’t going to rain, the rest of the things got hung out on the line. The weather was damp so a number of things didn’t get dry and had to be hung in the house after we brought them in.
Devit went by when I was hanging clothes this morning so sent some banana bread up to the medical workers by his hand. Then Devit came back and worked on the computer. Gave him some banana bread before he left. Silvia came by to get some yarn for a bilum she is making. She is doing a little better, but still quite weak.
Took a break from computer today and worked on sorting pictures. Have most of them done now. Then maybe I can start on putting some albums together. Finished the Heinz 57 Varieties baby afghan today. That will go to Jones and Erisapet in Marivo. This afternoon, I cleaned the bathroom, and straightened up Connie’s room a bit and dusted. Played the keyboard a while. Then just before getting supper, I started peeling potatoes to get them ready for dinner tomorrow. After supper, I did dishes and finished peeling potatoes. Also peeled a taro to add to them.
Daddy got the ooqdi trim back up in the bathroom, under and above the little cupboard he put up last week. Made a little shelf out on the porch to put the lights on when they go out in the sun to get charged.
January 3. A cool, drizzly day all day. Had the wood stove going most of the day. Was raining when we went out to call the girls in the morning. But we were glad for a little time to be able to talk to them.
It was a busy day for a Sunday. Off to lotu at 10:00. Nuanda preached the first meeting, from Romans 12:2, not being conformed to this world.
We barely had time to get dinner and eat before we went back for the second meeting. Daddy preached on the first six verses of 2 John. A good message on the need to walk in the truth, and how this is manifest in the life. Also brought out the eternal security of the believer. We are thankful for the many Scriptures that bear this truth.
By the time second lotu was over, it was raining. We got wet on the way home. Had a nap, then got ready for youth leader bung. Epekio brought the afghan she was working on, and I helped her start the border on that while we were waiting.
After they left, and Epekio left, we had supper. Then I did dishes. By then, it was time to turn on the generator and do some printing. Also worked more on the final Bible school grading page for Daddy and Nuanda. Will print those later. Didn’t quite finish getting all the information in before it was shut down time.
