The kids seemed to be wound up in school today. I guess they knew it was Friday. We had a good day though. The children had their first test in Bible class. It was a “yes” and “no” test. Since they have learned the words “yes” and “no,” I gave them each a paper with those words one each at the top of two columns. There were 20 questions, and they had to fill in the circle with red crayon under the column which gave the correct answer. Then there was time left, so I had them paste pictures on verse cards. They each had five pictures to give out to their siblings and friends. At the end of English class, everyone had a chance to say their dialogue. Then we had a party in celebration of Tania’s birthday. Her birthday will be Sunday.
This afternoon and evening were spent preparing material for this coming week.
“ Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” 1 Corinthians 4:1-2
April 24. No rain during the night that I recall. I did not sleep very well. The mosquitoes were bad and would not stay away from my face. These are the kind that are not scared away by the sonar nor by the lotion.
Daddy went to prayer lotu this morning. After prayer lotu, I did laundry.
Worked a good part of the day getting much of the school lessons ready for this coming week. Fixed mashed tater-taro for dinner, plus squash, and uxai with minted peas.
Serah came around 2:15 and did dishes, prepared greens, swept floors, folded clothes, and emptied the garbage. Daddy put up curtain hardware on the one east window in the schoolroom; and I put up a curtain as the sun was in some of the students’ eyes yesterday. Epekio came while I was putting stuff on the chalkboard for school Monday. She brought some scraps of yarn so she could learn to make a hat. So I got her started on that. Pasted some pictures on colored paper — to be used in Bible class this coming week. Then started making cookies. Also put eggs on to boil for egg salad sandwiches for supper. Paid Serah. Then got supper. After supper I finished the cookies — just plain bars, but then I melted the chocolate chip block that came in our package last time we were in town, and spread the chocolate on top of the bars. (Christy and I sent them chocolate chips, but they melted and re-hardened before they got to Dad and Mom. So Mom used the block of chocolate to make a topping for the cookie bars.)
Worked at the computer a bit while waiting for the water to come back on so I could clean the bathroom. It didn’t come back on, so Daddy went hunting for running water taps in the village. When he came back, I cleaned the bathroom.
