October 31. The end of another week and the end of another month is already here. The Lord gave us another dry day today.
Last night the school students came and worked on props. Most things are done now except for some bigger things which will need to be done a little closer to time for the program. The girls got casings made in four of the curtains and still need to do two more.
We had two classes in which to practice music today. They are doing well getting all these songs down. Seems like the tenor parts are some of the most difficult, and my tenor section are the slowest catching on. But I thank the Lord for how well things are coming along. Next week, we’ll have to start practicing the whole program a couple evenings a week.
At recess time, we saw people gathered near the bottom of the airstrip. And all the community school students were hanging around here too. We wondered what kind of problem had come up now. Come to find out they were all talking to an Indonesian man who had walked over here from Tainaraba. A helicopter had flown him in there to help set up a Digicel tower. He waited for them to come back and get him, but they didn’t come. So he walked over here to get a plane back out to town. SIL came in to get him this afternoon.
This afternoon, there were math lessons and spelling quizzes to grade which took quite a while. Then I averaged up all the spelling quiz grades because they had their last quiz today. Next week, they will have a test in spelling. After that job, my back was hurting quite a bit so I sat in the recliner and worked on next week’s lesson plans until Singinis came with her new baby boy. Got up to get some baby things for her and then put supper on to warm.
After supper, I spent a little more time on lesson plans and then practiced keyboard until students started coming for Bible school.
“32Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 10:32,33
November 1. Woke up about 5:15 this morning. It was almost time to get up anyway and start the wash. It was a cold morning, down to 52º, but it felt warmer outside than in when we went out to hang clothes. And it turned out to be a beautiful, dry, sunny day, but very, very warm. It is still quite warm in the house this evening. We had lots of windows wide open today, trying to get some breeze through the house.
Got things hung up and had a few minutes to relax in the recliner until lotu started. Mike continued his series on the family this morning, talking about the wife having been made as a helper for the man and talking a little bit about her responsibilities.
After lotu, I worked on lesson plans and props. A little after 10:00, we went out for a walk. It was already getting very warm out.
After we got back, I had an Emergen-C drink and worked more on props for a while. Then I sorted and cleaned up the little bunch of greens that we got yesterday afternoon before starting preparing spaghetti for dinner.
Was thankful for a good long nap this afternoon, after which I washed my hair, cut up a popo, and worked on organizing and averaging yearly grades.
I didn’t make cookies until after supper because it was just too hot to work in the kitchen. One batch just came out of the oven, and the second batch should be done in about five minutes. In the mean time, Sunny came and brought me another bunch of greens. Looks like quite a stack of dishes to do this evening, after the evening cools down a bit more.
“37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” Matthew 10:37,38
