February 10. Cool, cloudy, and rainy again this morning. After breakfast and quiet time, I gave the bathroom a good cleaning. Then I washed the bookshelf Daddy had made in the meeting room to put some reading books for school. Put all the empty boxes in the meeting room for people to take. Sorted out all the school learning toys and games and put them in the cupboard. Washed the small section of wall between Connie’s doorway and the meeting room doorway. Then moved the other drum over there so both drums are together on that wall. After that, I put rice and lentils on to cook for dinner, and got carrots and broccoli ready to cook too. Cut up some sausage into the pot of rice and lentils. While dinner was cooking, I painted the bookshelf.
It was nice to get an earlier nap today. After nap, I started working on a ministry update. Then Daniel and Apekio came with Graham to find out about Graham having school with Sosthenes and Stephanas. They did not send him to Hagen again because of this being election year. They said there is lots of fighting up there anyway, even during non-election years.
Loaded a few books on the new bookshelf after that, and then worked a bit more on the ministry update until supper time. After supper and dishes, I started loading on more books, but noticed the brackets we used were not strong enough. We tried to find the strong shelf brackets earlier today, but couldn’t find them. Daddy finally found them this evening, so we went ahead and changed all the brackets. Now the reading books are all loaded on the shelf so the students will have books to look at in their free time. Some of the books will be used for teaching as well.
“17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. 19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.” Romans 14:17-19
February 11. Cloudy and foggy again this morning, with a few sprinkles of rain. A little sunshine late morning, then clouds again, then more sunshine in afternoon. Raining again this evening.
Amos took charge of lotu this morning, but Daddy preached. It was just a short talk on the Lord’s prayer request in Matthew 9:37, 38. After lotu, the men stayed and discussed their upcoming baptism. It was planned for tomorrow afternoon, but they decided they want to use it as an outreach opportunity and put out an invitation on the notice boards. They decided on February 23 and 24 for meetings and baptism. That will give time for all who want to give testimonies and for Daddy to give a salvation message and also explain the need for re-baptism.
After lotu, I had Bonita come and husk corn for me. There was quite a bit that I wanted to get put out to start drying.
I spent a good part of the day making little stools so we would have a couple extra little seats for the students to sit on. If they all sit on the bench, they won’t have much elbow room. I got them all planned out, and Daddy cut the wood for me. (Well, we tried to use the stools today for school, but they were too short, except for Graham who is taller than the other students. But he said he would be more comfortable on a chair anyway so we will try a couple folding chairs tomorrow.)
Around 11:00 this morning, we called Christy and Connie. We are not getting good connection these days, either due to the weather or the Digicel system or something. (It was due to weather-related damage according to this article in the National, one of Papua New Guinea’s newspapers) Our first connection with Christy and Connie was not very good, and we lost connection. But when we called back, we had a much better connection, for which we thank the Lord.
After I finished the stools this afternoon, I got all the workbooks organized for school coming up on Monday and made sure I had enough of each one. I had to go hunting around for a few more that I didn’t have enough of.
We also spent quite a bit of time answering the door today. I rewrote announcements for tomorrow since the men changed the date of baptism. Also made a temporary notice for the men to look over and see if it is okay for the notice board.
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13
