August 21. It has been a busy day. I do thank the Lord for another sunny, warm day. The sun seems to be coming up earlier now. It was 52º again this morning, but the sun soon warms things up.
A plane came before 7:00 this morning. I guess it picked up a load of coffee and took it to Aiyura. It didn’t come back for more.
Kids came before 6:30 and knocked on the door for rubbish. They made fast work of what little there was. About 7:30, Phinehas knocked on the door. His father had sent him to school, along with money to pay for the school books. I had already given the books I had out to Sunny. So I spent quite a bit of time finding books, pencil, crayons, etc. for Phinehas. I never did find a Worksheets book although I hunted through all the boxes this afternoon. So I’ll just give him my copy.
At the end of school today we had a birthday party for Steve. He turned 14 today. It was going on 1:00 before I got my lunch. I graded papers while I was eating, and afterward too. So it was about 2:00 before I lay down for nap and 3:00 when I got up. Spent the rest of the afternoon recording grades and getting things ready for tomorrow’s classes. Also cooked a pot of lentils and rice for my supper.
After doing the dishes, I folded the rest of the clothes that were washed yesterday. Then I washed up and also had a little time for prayer.
“12Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. 13Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath showed me. 15Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.” II Peter 1:12-15
August 22. Another 52º morning. The Lord gave us a nice sunny morning again; but before noon, the clouds had come up and we were getting some light rain. It was pretty cool this afternoon, and is cooler this evening than it has been.
It was nearly 7:00 (time for lotu) before I could get to my breakfast this morning. People didn’t arrive for lotu before 7:30 however. The men said that Daddy hadn’t asked any of them to preach, but Amos was ready with a brief talk on I Corinthians 3:6-9 and 17, about our being “ol man nating” and God being everything; about our being God’s building, and that we are to keep God’s building holy. After the meeting, they talked about having Daddy get roofing iron for the church building since the roofing iron is on sale.
We were able to start English class early too which was good as it took quite a while to cover all the ways to write the long “o” sound. After recess, we had math class and then science class; and it was 12:30 when we finished school.
I had leftover rice for lunch and, since it was still early, I corrected papers and recorded grades before nap. After nap, I got things together for tomorrow. I did not do dishes tonight. There are only a handful of dirty dishes.
“19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” II Peter 1:19-21
