“21And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. 23For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them : and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 24And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.” II Chronicles 20:21-24
“Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.” Thank God for His mercy. We thank God that He is going to give Dad and Mom the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. But we do not pray for the human opposition to be ambushed and smitten. Rather we pray for their repentance and that they might get right with the Lord and walk with Him. Changed hearts would result in changed lives, and this would bring great rejoicing.
We do not pray that the human opposition would be defeated and destroy one another but that they would be “defeated” in their attempts to continue going their own way and would return to the paths of righteousness and walk in God's way. We know that the real opposition comes from the devil, and we do pray that he will be defeated, “ambushed,” and beat down so that he will have no more influence in the situation.
For those that are running from the Lord and resisting Him, we pray that none will escape the working of the Holy Spirit and the word of God. They all need to be held fast by the word of God and have their hearts and lives turned around and restored to the Lord’s service. Pray also for the mighty working of the Holy Spirit. Pray that God’s word will have free course and be glorified among the Owena people. Then will the Lord make an end to the wiles of the devil, and the beauty of His holiness will be manifest in the work there.
Please praise the Lord with us and sing songs of thanksgiving and praise the beauty of his holiness. God is great, and the victory is always His.
