January 21. It was a pretty sunny day today, but everyone is preparing for winter weather. There is a storm warning for this weekend starting at midnight tonight.
After breakfast and quiet time, I spent all morning working on the presentation pictures. Thought I might be able to finish this morning. By noon, I felt the need of a break for the rest of the day. So I didn’t do any more computer at all.
In the afternoon, I crocheted and we checked over the last few verses of Matthew 6 and also did 7 and 8.
Nathan and family arrived here from the mountains around 5:50, and Daddy took them over to the guest house at WWNTBM. Then they went to Italian Garden in KM and met the Ogles there for supper. They spent quite a long time fellowshipping together, and it was late when Daddy got home. He stopped at Ingles on the way home and got some candles and a battery-operated lantern. Also a free cup of Starbucks coffee as the workers were cleaning up for the night and were going to throw out the leftover.
Christy and Connie arrived here just after Daddy left with Nathan and family. Connie had to hurry and get out of the car with just a few of her things so Christy could get to school on time. I spent a good part of the evening crocheting and chatting with Connie.
Christy got out of school early because her teacher still needed to get bread for the snow days. C&C came prepared to spend a couple nights here in case the power goes out in Lattimore. The trailer gets much too cold if the power goes out; and if there is snow and ice, they would never get out of the trailer park.
“18Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. 19He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea. 20Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.” Micah 7:18-20
January 22. The snow started sometime during the night. By morning, there were several inches on the ground, trees, cars, and everywhere. Beautiful, beautiful snow! Very wet snow, as it is clinging to the trees. Snow and sleet is expected to continue all day.
Christy and Connie had quite the adventures during the night. The sofa bed in the living room is too light weight to hold weight on just one side. So when Connie got out of bed during the middle of the night, the bed tipped to the floor on Christy’s side. When Christy got out of bed, the bed folded up on Connie. So they ended up putting the mattress on the floor and moving the sofa bed frame back to the window area. They got some good laughs out of their predicament.
Christy does not have to go to work today.
Praise the Lord, I was able to finish up the picture file for our presentation today. Just waiting on a few pictures that I asked Christy to scan, and we need a couple videos. Then we need to find someone who can help us put it together in a pleasing way.
Also got a crocheted hat made to match the scarf that I’d finished the other day. Just finished that off this evening.
We all played a game of Skip-bo together this evening.
“10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness….” Colossians 1:10,11
January 23. The driveway and road were still icy this morning, but things did start melting as the day wore on.
Today I did a couple loads of wash; looked for some free crochet patterns but got frustrated with that and decided that books are for me, not websites; took a couple pictures of that hat and scarf set I had made and sent the pictures to Connie; sent a couple documents to Christy for printing and some pictures for her to have printed at Walgreens; went out to lunch with Nathan and family to Denny’s, got the income report up-to-date; wrote a couple e-mails; started doing a more thorough check on the verses in the flag tract.
This evening, my sister called, and I talked to her for just a few minutes. Then Daddy called his sister, and we talked to her for about 3/4 hour.
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses….” Colossians 2:13
January 24. Only one church meeting today and that at 2:00 p.m. This morning, I finished straightening up the print copy of Love, Mercy, Grace. At 11:00, we started listening to Dr. Tom Farrell preach from Central Baptist Church in Ocala, FL. In the middle of the service, we also ate our dinner so we could have an early nap before we went to church.
It was a blessing to see sister Kim in church today. Pastor Ogle preached on “Abiding in Christ” - for salvation, for security, for service, John chapter 15.
After the service, there was a get-together for one of the young men who will be leaving for air force reserve training this week. Daddy and I didn’t stay very long because the room was very cold, and I was feeling it in my chest. Daddy got a little plate of food, and we talked to Aaron briefly before leaving.
Christy and Connie were hoping to get back into the trailer park today to do some things, but Mr. S told them not to try it. There is still a lot of ice around. Even the driveway at the house here is very icy.
“5Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. 6Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” Colossians 4:5,6
January 25. Christy was off to work again today, but didn’t have to be there until around 9:30. After she left, we got ready to go shopping. Daddy, Connie, and I went first to Kings Mountain - Ingles, Neighborhood WalMart, and Roses. Came back to the house and had lunch, a short nap, and then off to Shelby WalMart and Aldi before taking Connie home. The trailer park road was okay. The water was still running in their house (no broken pipes), and the house was warm. Praise the Lord that everything was okay after four nights away.
It was after 5:00 when we got back home this afternoon. Bro. Clarke came by with some more verses he had worked on for us. Then we had some supper. It was a tiring day, but it was good to get out of the house. It was my first time to get out since we got back from Texas, except to go to church yesterday and last Sunday and to go to Denny’s for lunch the other day.
“But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.” I Thessalonians 2:4
