Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. (Romans 12:10,11)
December 13. Daddy woke up feeling worse this morning and was running a low grade fever. Decided he should start on penicillin. He didn’t get up until almost 6:30, then went back to bed after breakfast and a short Bible study time. Obviously he did not preach today.
Devit was at Kelly’s house talking with some men, I think he said from Irakia, and that they want a church started over there. His mother called to him and told him Daddy was sick. So he came over to the church building, and I told him that Daddy said to just have one meeting and that he should go ahead and preach. We waited and waited until 10:30, and the only ones who were there were a handful of old folks — Putaso, Devit's mother, Maro’s mother, Neomi’s mother, and myself. I told David he would just have to preach to us old folks. :-) After a few minutes, we went in. A few more people came. Devit started the singing, and eventually more and more people came. There was a good crowd. Devit preached a salvation message using Matthew 4:17. Daniel translated for him.
It has been a dry day, but not a lot of sun and not too hot.
I had to move a lot of files to this Dell computer to work on because the Acer is losing power so quickly now. So will only use it when the power is on. We don’t want to lose anything or everything like we did with the Compaq.
December 14. Well, everything got moved from the other Dell to this Dell tonight. The battery in the other Dell goes down too quickly too. I just won’t be able to use the computer when Jokapet or Devit is using it. The other Dell was really slow too. So I didn’t get much done before the battery went low. Had to keep waiting for the printed words to catch up to me.
We couldn’t watch a DVD last night because they don’t work in the Dell, and the Acer doesn’t keep power long enough. So we spent some time doing Bible study. Studied quite a few verses in Acts chapter 7. It was an interesting study. Daddy is feeling better today, but still weak.
Jokapet came and worked at the computer this morning while Serah worked in the kitchen. Serah was done with her work in an hour. Both of them stayed for Bible study. We understand there was a basketball game going on at Marivo today.
All the men were here today to work on the house. They got a start on the floor and worked more on the roof.
Nuanda came back today. Also Aina, and Kristi, along with a new nurse meri (female nurse).
Worked on Sunday school lessons and notes for youth leaders meeting coming up on Sunday. Made molasses cookies and granola this afternoon before supper.
There are only six people here for translation this evening — Devit, Erik, Ben, and Korin working on translating Matyu; Matyu and Gibson working on Romans. They said that Jevin is sick.
December 15. Matyu and Gibson, with Daddy, finished checking Romans 16 last night. Praise the Lord! Now we need to re-print, re-proofread, and revise to get it ready for printing. They will work on the tract next.
Rain during the night, and rainy when we got up this morning. We were blessed with sunshine about mid-moring, through most of the rest of the day, until this evening. Now it is raining again.
Jokapet came and finished putting the rest of the songs in the computer today. Mairin came and helped Serah make peanut butter.
The men got a good section of the floor boards done today, and have the roof rafters all ready so they can put up the silver paper and kapa (roofing iron) tomorrow. They said they are going to come early, before lotu, and see what they can get done.
Daddy and I finished Bible study on Acts 7 this morning. Checked Pidgin translation through the first 17 verses of Mark 14.
December 16. Epekio and Serah came last night to work on crocheting. I had them pick out some yarn so they can start on a blanket now. Ema and Vitoria came with Epekio so I let them look at books while their mother was busy crocheting.
Praise the Lord for a nice dry day, and that the men were able to get all the silver paper and kapa on the roof. The still need to put some nails in the kapa tomorrow.
Serah came at 7:30 this morning to do laundry. We discovered that the pipe in the laundry room is leaking, and there was water all over the floor. Daddy turned the water off later in the morning and put more glue on the pipes. However, the water doesn’t seem to shut off tight now, and there was still a little water leaking out. So we turned the tub faucet up to see if all the excess water will leak out there. Then he put more glue on the pipe.
I did quite a bit of printing this morning while the generator was on. Then we went to lotu a little after 9:00, after Serah got done hanging clothes. Didn’t get back until 10:30. Was encouraged as Nuanda told how one of his children this morning prayed with tears that he (she) wanted the Lord to use his (her) life even if it meant hardship and dying for the Lord. Nuanda’s message this morning was from Hebrews 11, Hall of Faith, and those who suffered because of their faith in Christ. It was an encouraging message. Nuanda didn’t say if it was a son or daughter who prayed that prayer.
Devit came and cut firewood today. We are thankful for a full woodbox again.
